Anybody going to cross-shop this here?:

http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/ne...auto-show.html

Seems like it will be more "car-like", lighter, better engine and tranny to better take on the X5 market-share wise. It will have an available 3rd row option, so I am interested. We are due to replace my wife's X5 this september, so there will be some shopping around to do.

Sadly enough, she is opposed to getting another bimmer

If you're leasing, the RR Sport will be considerably more expensive. I like it, though - probably going to be a better vehicle than the new X5.

I cross shopped the Evoque. Land Rover did their homework on the ride. The interior is also top notch. And there seems to be no match for their off road capability.

Why is the RR Sport more expensive on a lease - poor residual?

Probably less favorable lease rates, i.e money factor. from what ive heard residual is usually pretty good on RR. RR has a higher ownership rate compared to BMW (which are heavily leased)

What makes you say that? To me it seems like all of the changes made for the new RRSport will make it more in line with what BMW is offering, especially given the option to delete the 2-speed torque transfer case.... There is ALWAYS the reliability issue for LR vehicles also.

Keep in mind, it's made by TATA motors. I doubt it's reliability. At least my X5 did not give me any problems for last 3.5 years except regular service visits.

Range Rovers were never known for being reliable...

Yes, yet they are so popular and went bankrupt. Go figure. Anyway, if they are making it better starting with the Evoque, you need to give them credit for it. For those of us not beholden to a brand, we all benefit from a market flush with quality well designed products.

For those interested in how the quality changes made under Tata are faring on the Evoque, automobilemag has a long term test going: http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...cember_update/

i was thinking the same - project future quality based on the evoque not old LR/RR models
