Rattle driving me mad

Dealer states they have no fix for this. so im going to do something about that

where in the world is the rear seat rattle coming from. a search on the forum led to some threads but no answers.

i definitely pinpointed the rattle to the right rear seat with comfort package

but can not pinpoint exactly where on the seat it comes from?

is it the latches? plastic? wires?

please help if anyone had any answers or fixes.

Rattles are usually unique...and can be a major PITA to track down. I've pinpointed a few in the rear area of my F15, solved with felt tape. Not sitting in your vehicle to hear the rattle makes is tough to help diagnose. I'd have someone drive while you sit in the back and try to pin it down. Does it rattle with someone in the seat? Belts buckled? Tilted? Lots of variables here.

One of the rattle issues in the past models is the back seat not being properly closed with enough force for the latch to engage after it has been folded down and brought back up upright.

Your best bet is to get your significant other to just sit in back seat on opposite end of the seat and listen for the rattle, also I would recommend buckling back seat belts even on empty seats to see if it helps. I want as far to fold the seats flat and drive around for a while to see if it had something to do with seats, but that was E70.

I have the same vehicle, 30d Msport F15 with comfort seats in the rear. Same rattle coming from right rear. Dealer have located it to be in the rear right door, they have lubricated and secured it and it seems quiet now. When the service manager drove with me however and he was sitting in the rear seat is was less noise, I think the problem of this rattle might be somewhere between the right rear seat and the door. Mine is quiet now, but will keep on checking it.

I have a rattle at the front left air vent when driving on rough tar surfaces at certain high speeds, have you maybe got a solution for this or anyone having a similar issue?

Regards
J

My rattle was coming from the latch assembly on the rear hatch. They greased and tightened it up and its gone. It drove us CRAZY for 2 weeks! 65k for a car that rattles is nonsense

We had a rattle that was resolved by the dealer taking apart the plastic pieces in the back (passenger side, cargo area) and applying some felt tape so the plastics weren't rubbing against each other directly. Took them a couple of days to pinpoint it, but so far, that has held up. It's been 4 or 5 months.

I've had a similar issue with my 2014 X5. Seemed to have finally resolved it by collapsing the seat completely and then resetting it in it's upright position and so far, so good. Would definitely recommend this as a potential solution.

I had a new rattle appear in mine this morning. Turns out its my step-daughter's car seat. Some added padding (microfiber cloth) between two plastic surfaces on the sliding assembly solved the problem. I HATE rattles! Makes any vehicle sound cheap, let alone one that you've spent $80k on!

I only have ~3500km (or until end of Nov.) left on my creaks and rattles warranty and I'm praying that nothing new comes up. So far I've had all of my noise issues resolved.

Super old thread. But I had this issue as well - passenger side rear comfort seat rattling - the most annoying rattle in the world. Luckily I found this thread. I literally put the seats down and first put back the drivers side back up and then the passengers side - basically slammed it back in full recline! The rattling is gone. Hopefully it holds up since I don’t have any other rattles or creaks so far…
