The Black looks hot... the Silver Chrome looks clumsy... Look at the lower mesh grills which are in black and should match all around... not look like a clown so to speak..

But... I guess if your X5 has the chrome window trims then.. I guess it would look okay... but I would never get chrome window trims in the first place... just my opinion so it doesn't really matter...

I'm biased..I think black looks good. Titanium makes mine look like it has teeth!

I've Changed My Opinion to Titanium

Sometimes, things grow on you - that's true with me in this case.

I now like the chrome rim / titanium grille on my new ride, even though I've been partial to black on my 2012 M6 Convertible and previously, 7 series I've owned.

Of course, it is a matter of taste. And interesting how we sometimes rationalize other features of the vehicle into why black or chrome is preferred.

Next?

It seems clear on the US online configurator that the M Sport comes with a black grill. The only version that comes with a titanium looking grill is the X line. If you got a black grill on your M Sport than it should be correct.

Correct!

The post production build sheet for my 3D M Sport shows a black grille not titanium.

The UK on line configurator also has black, much as I prefer the look of titanium.

Youre wrong, the 50i with MSport in the USA comes with Titanium grills.

Is it possible that the 50i is titanium (that's how mine came) and the 35's depend on model and line? Then you have the whole country thing with additional engine choices, i.e. 40's. No surprise then that the factory might use the wrong grille with so many combinations...

The 50i could be an exception then.

I was told by a dealer, that titanium ones, along with silver mirrors are installed specifically on performance models, eg my M50d came with titanium ones. Only to be replaced with black ones.
