I traded my 2011 335 n55 fully modded, Jb4, pure stg 2, meth, flash about 6 years ago never had one issue, even had my stock clutch. These engines are over engineered, you can only break them when YOU break them. Extra boost e85 and meth don't hurt em.

Can you comment on the performance with and without downpipe/intake? Currently I have MPPK and Race Chip, and it's pretty good, but if I can get 40 HP out of the downpipe I'll probably add that too. Would you say the downpipe alone makes a very noticeable difference?

I would definitely want a way to resolve the CEL issue though.

The downpipe is extremely important to making the turbo spool fast. I'm not sure about the power difference but it's at least 25 -35 hp. The intake downpipe combo is essential for making real power. The CEL is a new wrinkle with the firmware from jb4 but there is a fix for it.

Thanks for the info. I'm running the Race Chip piggy back, I'd need an external CEL solution. Have you noticed more gas/exhaust smell with the catless downpipe?

Can any comment on changing the downpipe and warranty?

For some reason the 5 and X5 have a noticeable odor when idling at a light for a while with Windows down. My M3 had none, 335 had none but this truck does. Again, it's not enough to out weigh the performance benefits. Your warranty should be fine if you give your SA a heads up. Down pipes really effect emissions in their minds. They frown less on that than tunes and piggy backs

I've read somewhere that both LED and Bi-Xenon have 3 stars out of 5 in f15 x5 I'm not complaining with my Xenons, but I suspect LEDs won't be an upgrade by itself

Performance-wise, no, they aren't an upgrade. But looks wise? Then they definitely are!

I for one myself was looking at 35i and only found out about 50i on the dealers lot last minute. Test drove it after 35i and immediately felt in love, but I know some owners who only realized there was something else besides 35i and 35d.

UPDATE: OP clearly chose 35i knowing what he is buying, so good for him

OP if you whould ever change to KW V3? please post your review - would be interesting to hear your thoughts

I am with you. I had buy a SUV after breaking my back and didn't find out the difference until after I got on this forum. I regret not getting 50i (miss my mustang horsepower and torque)

Thanks man! I got spanked by fellow forum members for writing that post

In any case, whatever engine you got - it's still an x5 and it's still a BMW SUV (SAV) - could have been a lot worse than that. Here's to a BMW

Cheers

Dude. Really? What are you thanking him for?

A. No one spanked you for writing that post. It was simply pointed out that no one was trying to humiliate anyone.

B. People responded to you because of your humiliation comment. The gentleman above was talking about not knowing about the 50i. His comment mentions nothing that validates your presumption that anyone is trying to humiliate anyone else. He was pointing out that he was disappointed in the power of his vehicle and wishes he got the more powerful option.

I just thanked him as a friendly forum member liking his post.

Yeah, I understand I should have refrained wording it that way (regarding word "humiliate"). I really meant that it should be good to support every forum member whether he has 50i or 35i or 35d etc. In e90 forum this was a real issue, that's why I wanted to kinda support OP since as I wrote in my original post - people often don't know (which wasn't the case for OP). Anyway I digress. I often don't have a politically correct way of wording (English is not my first language) and often my intentions are misunderstood. I'm trying to not get involved in discussions, but since I'm a BMW fan in general I can't help myself
In any case I understand why people responded that way and it's fine with me

^^^

Well, cheers to that. And fair enough.

Personally, I just didn't want anyone to think I was trying to humiliate anyone. That's the exact opposite of who I am. I was asking a question, because I was curious.

But I am all on board with showing support. Cheers to you.

sick performance mod choices! hope you get the kw v3s - I'm enjoying them a lot. My last car was a fully modded 2011 335i as well (fun times).

They would be much better if they weren't reflective housings. Why in Gods green earth we advanced in lighting technology only to regress backward by pairing them with reflected housings just baffles me. Projectors are long proven to provide much better lighting distribution and throw which is why even if a ghetto auto maker only gives you halogen option on a certain vehicle they at least put them behind projector lenses and try and upsell that fact (calling you out Toyota!!!) lol

But ya good thing bmw fixed their sh!t with the next iteration X5. I expect the led jewels on it should text much better.

Love these upgrades. I have a 2018 35i, and I'm interested in the air intake + downpipe. I know you might not be the best person to ask, but does the downpipe void factory warranties if I'm leasing the vehicle?

Also, could you verify if these are the correct parts?
