Also another factor, TMAP sensor. I have seen a few cars including mine had faulty TMAP sensor from BMW.
93 octane. Always. I even drive around the station and make sure I use a pump where the last person also pumped 93. That way I don't get a hose full of lower octane fuel.

What did your car do when the sensor was bad?

Perhaps if/when it happens again, I should let it store the code, remove the RC and let the dealership sort it out?

I wish I had a definitive answer, as I'm starting to like the RC!

What I was asking is how did you determine that you had a bad sensor. What were the symptoms?

Ahh, symptoms, got Drivetrain Malfunctions when you do a sudden acceleration.
The TMAP went crazy on sudden spike of boost.

After a whole year after removing my RaceChip tune before bring my car into service... I swore there was no real difference, so didn't bother reinstalling it....

Today after giving my motor some cleaning and since I had already removed the airbox and a bunch of stuff, I said hell with it and put the RCU back in.

And yeah there's a difference. No idea about BMS S1, but RaceChip Ultimate very driveable.

For all those looking for some dyno numbers on the RaceChip Ultimate for the 50i, here you go.

Two months ago, I took my 2016 X5 50i to the dyno for a baseline. The baseline run is in red below and was conducted on a Mustang dyno. I was initially unimpressed with the numbers (352HP, 390ft/lb). After some discussion with the shop owner, in which we talked about the differences between a Mustang and Dynojet dyno, he said that his numbers average 14% lower than a Dynojet. Once I applied the 14% correction, my numbers are right in line with what I am seeing in this post:

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1174104

With that sorted out and my X5 verified as making the power it is supposed to, I installed a Race Chip Ultimate and set it to C. After about a month of driving, I went back to the dyno and was very pleased.

#1 Red = Baseline
#2 Green = RC Ultimate C
#3 Blue = RC Ultimate D

Setting C was impressive with an at the wheels gain of 48HP and 47ft/lb (55HP and 53ft/lb if you apply the 14% correction), while setting D was not as good overall. Even though D produced higher numbers, there was significantly less low end power and the delivery was not as smooth. In the end, I am sticking with C.

Great info. I'm planning to tune the xDrive50i also in a couple months. I'm going for a baseline dyno in a few weeks. Any stock vs tune 1/4 mile runs available for the F15 xDrive50i?

There are 4 MAP sensors on the 50i; which ones are the TMAP sensors? The ones on the intake manifold or the intercooler? Sorry if this has been discussed prior and I missed it. Trying to keep up

It's been a while since this discussion started. I'm looking at buying a 2016 50i pretty soon. Have other/better tuning options come out? I have JB4 on my F30 and I'm happy with it but that's my first and only experience with a piggy back. Think I'd prefer a flash.

Flash tunes are the norm now and Bootmod3 (BM3) is the most common. Check out this thread:

RaceChip if you want something easy with quality and smooth performance.

I really like the Race Chip black GTS on my 2018 F15d. I keep it is "race mode" all the time. My performance is better and I get better fuel economy.

My only complaint is that I occasionally get a check engine light that pops up when I am accelerating onto a freeway. The error says low EGR pressure. Does not cause limp mode or any performance problems at all. I clear the code with the Foxwell, and carry on until it happens again....No such error codes when nailing it off the line...Just when merging onto a freeway for some reason.

Super easy to install. Very happy with the Race Chip.

However, once my warranty is up, I will likely do ABC delete and tune at some point in the future once the emissions systems start to wear out and fail.....

Has anyone ever took 12-15 Hours road trips with racechip? What's the highest setting on RC Ultimate ran without CEL for 35i motor? It was kind of hard to keep track of what motor everyone was running.

Thanks in advance.

I've taken several 4 hour trips. Gonna be driving down to FL For my brothers wedding which will be about 10 hours although not sure what you think is gonna happen on an extended drive.

Thanks for these replies guys. I just drove down here to South Carolina. At about 8-10 Hours into the trip, I got a code for air fuel or something like that. No performance interruptions or anything else. The code came out of nowhere. I reset it went away a little bit later. So far its fine. Just trying to see if I want to remove it for the trip back

I see a lot of race chip. Anyone do a Dinantronics?

Are they more conservative as far as numbers? Or is it the price?
