I'm painting my front tow-hook cover right now, actually. Final clear coats going on.

So you had them cut off and then will clamp (or weld) them back on?

They are MPE tips which come cut off and needs to be clamped when installing.

Nothing beats the satisfaction of a well-done DIY job. Nicely done.
If the stock M-Sport tips were clamped on, I'd do this in a heartbeat.
I'd even paint them Carbon Black since I have lots left.

If you really want black tips, you can always go this route. I honestly was going to do it this way. The tips were a pain to wiggle out.

Once again you nailed it!

If you get a chance can you take a shot from, say 10 feet back or so, directly behind the rear. Want to get the full effect with gloss black badge, CF rear diffuser and tips.

Well done.

Will do! The X5 is garaged and it's wet in NJ.
If not sometime this week, I'll take lots of photos on a upcoming meet we are having in two weeks.

Nope. I'm of the "Do it right or not at all" mindset. Spray in-place like that is asking for streaks/runs and the coverage will be uneven since you have to spray "upside down" to get the underside of the exhaust tip.
Not saying it can't be done properly this way with lots of patience. I'm just saying I'd probably screw it up or at least notice imperfections, which would drive me crazy.

You can do it by taking off the rear bumper to give you more room.
The amount of time masking it and taking off the rear bumper is about the same.

The various hitch installation videos show the steps required for bumper removal. etrailer.com had a pretty good one IIRC. Fender flares need to be partially removed along with the tail lights.
Too much work just to paint the tips for me...

Kzang, just got my CF splitter and diffuser, see where both bolt on the bottom of front and rear bumper but very little surface area for the tops and sides to adhere to the bumper. Just a very thin ridge that the Betalink or equivalent would be applied.

My question is, does that actually hold and how do you deal with over epoxy since the only part touching or in contact with the bumpers on the top or sides is thin as a penny. I would think you would have epoxy everywhere?

Thanks in advance
