Drivers Door Seal

I have seen people mention they hear what sounds like wind noise from the drivers door. I too hear the same thing and was wondering is this a flaw in the design or do new gaskets fix it? I have a 2014 so it's not that old.

You likely need to clean and condition the door seals. If under warranty, the dealer will do it for you if you ask.

Here is the product most suggest.

Mine makes noise too... window creaks over certain types of bumps, and if it's really windy, or behind a semi and getting buffeted by the wind. I've used Gummi Pflege for years on my seals and it made no difference on the X5 for me.

Have you replaced the seal?

Not yet. I can push on the window and produce the same creaking noise. I'm taking it in Monday, so we'll see what they say. I have a list of things to be done as my warranty is coming up in December:
- window creaks
- brakes
- driver's seat ventilation fan bad bearing
- adjust rear hatch
- Noise from front suspension (maybe a CV joint "popping")

They'll have it for a few days.

Try cleaning the felt bit on the door that touches the vehicle trim and that trim as well. Dirt and grim as well as residue from commercial car washes build up there and can cause creaking.

It's the silver metal thing that the door latches to on the B pillar (for the front doors). Has two torx screws holding it and it is the catch for the door latches.

Maverik, I dug this old post up because I am having the same issue (excessive wind noise from driver door).

Did this work for you??

ahhh...I was hoping this was about a solution for all the crap that gets on the door sills after driving in the rain. Tons of crap seems to accumulate there really quickly.

Try a whole winter of snow and salt. My wife never cleans the sills and I have a dump truck of stones sitting on the sills every few weeks.

Yup, it sucks. I am in a condo and don't have access to a hose, otherwise I'd just spray it out once a week between taking it to the hand wash place.

I may order some PPF and apply it to that area just so I can wipe the area off with waterless wash and not worry about scratching up the paint.

2017 X6 with M sport pkg, door creaking noise drives me nuts
I know it is very comment for X5 and X6 but not for one year old car.

here is my experience,

- I tried Gummi Pflege Stift first, but ... it made things worse (my case only); whatever corner i turned, i hear the creaking noise from door(s) all the time.
- Went to dealer, they applied something (could be "door ease Lubricant), kind of sticky but worked.

Didn't try. Just accepted this car is terrible for wind noise

Wow, just disappointed for a $80k+ MSRP vehicle to have wind noise like this... I have to turn the radio up when I have passengers (non family members).
