Here my order:

X5 xDrive35i
Luxury Line
Comfort Seats
Surround View/Reverse/Front camera
3rd row seats
"Comfort" rear air suspension set up
HK sound system
Panoramic sun roof
Adaptive LED lights
Head Up display
4-zone climate
Comfort access with soft close function doors
The usual BMW Nav with RTTI etc
It'll come in Sapphire Black, with Canberra Beige Dakota Leather interior
I'm keeping the 19" Multispoke 448 rims until the RFTs need to be swapped - will probably go for 21" items then

Can't wait... collection is supposedly due 29 September!

It'll be my first SAV/SUV, first time trying out something so airy & light for the interior (all the others were either boring black or bleak brown) ... very excited, so thought I'd just share my excitement with you guys!

I think that the delay was associated with the Diesel engine production, or, as mrwilby said, with the stitching upgrade.
Mrwilby, have you ordered diesel?
Fantastic! if you're NY I wonder if the cars are on the same truck... Yep diesel for me too. not long to go now

My X5 Diesel has a Sept 22 (last Monday) build date and still is stuck in 112 status. The dealer says no delays have been assigned to the vehicle. Do you think this delay could go for quite some time? Not sure if my vehicle is caught in the transition stage for Mocha Nappa interior stitching upgrade? There was some preliminary reports of a possible imminent Mocha Nappa leather and 20" wheel shortage, but according to the dealer, the shortage has not influenced build dates as of yet.

Thoughts?

Just got the bad news. My X5 production has been pushed out 3 weeks. Apparently there is some sort of parts shortage.

That really sucks - but is completely consistent with my delay (which was nearly 4 weeks). Do you know what the delay was?

My vehicle arrived at the dealer in MA today - just 2 days from SC up to MA.

My dealer thinks it's either the 20's or the Mocha Nappa leather.

Right. As I think I may have posted at one point, my dealer was fairly adamant there was a delay caused by the luxury seating package (perhaps in combination with Mocha Nappa, which I also ordered).

I feel for you. There is literally nothing you can do to make things go faster or get any information. If anything, BMW has made it so easy to track the state of your production that whenever something stalls or is delayed it's really really annoying!

I used to live in Europe and had to actually wait 4 months to get a Honda CRV once. We actually have things pretty good (price & time-wise).

Hang in there!

They're here!

Have been waiting since end of May for my 2015 X5 3D M Sport so decided enough was enough. I have decided to order the parts one by one starting with the M Performance Grills - I reckon there is enough expertise on this forum to help me build the car myself

Joking aside, I have been informed that it finally goes into production in two weeks (a little ahead of schedule) so should be ready for collection this side of Xmas. As said many times before, we "poor" Europeans can only dream on the order lead times of our US friends!

(Props to Autohaus Melkus in Germany for their efficient delivery of the grills at EUR 150 including shipping)

Most likely the 20's

I got this info from my CA when I ordered my X5 this past Saturday

OPTION RESTRICTIONS (REDUCED AVAILABILITY)
Due to the weekly production shortages of various options and wheels, we may be forced to modify Non Customer Sold orders to align with production September Onward. Below are the options and wheels that have varying availability by week. If your order has changed, please do not add the option back or we will not be able to produce your vehicle at all.
Model(s) Option Comment
MY15 X5 2PW (20” Double Spoke M Wheels) Within ZMM (M Sport)
2LS (20” Y Spoke Wheels) Within All Lines
2D4 (19” Orbit Grey Wheels) Within ZXD (X Line)
2H4 (19” Multi Spoke Wheels) 100% X5 xDrive50
2AZ (18” Light Alloy) Standard on X5 D and X5 sDrive

My lease is up in Dec, my CA and I are already talking about extending my current lease due to the availability of rims.

I know it says "non-customer sold", but this seems to be impacting customer sold vehicles as well.

Just got back from collecting mine. Terrible weather here today or I would've posted some pictures.

Only had 25 miles drive back home to enjoy the car and most of that was in heavy traffic but so far very happy. Will need to post a proper write up after driving her properly

Yes, similar to what I heard when my SA informed me of a 3 week production delay from Sept 22.

Yesterday I called the 1-800 # for the first time. The phone system said "no confirmed date for production." It didn't even confirm the 3 week delay, so I called a customer service rep a few minutes later.

Customer service then told me my X5 will likely begin production this week as it has been "accepted for production " on Sept 26 and that a VIN # is now being assigned to it. They said their computer shows it was never scheduled for a Sept 22 build date.

Things must have recently changed at the factory considering last week's bad news. Maybe 20's have become available again. Hopefully the live advisor was accurate.

ZDB Driver Assistance Plus
5AT ACC Stop & Go + Active Driving Assistant
ZDA Driver Assistance Package

ZMD Mocha Interior Design Package
ZLS Luxury Seating Package

5DP Parking Assistant
417 Rear Manual side window Shades
688 Harman Kardon surround sound system
300 Space-saver spare
Aug 29th: Placed order w/production number coming by the following friday

Sept 5th: Received production number.
Hint: triple check your build sheets! My well intentioned CA made a few errors:
3AT - Roof rails in satin aluminum instead of 3MC - High-gloss roof rails
and forgot a few options:
5DP - Parking assistant
417 - rear side shades
300 - Space saver spare
Sept 14th: I Added:
2PW - 20” M Light alloy Double Spoke wheels style 469M

Sept 30th: I asked my CA about updates or delays (especially related to Mocha Nappa, ZLS Luxury Seating Package or 469M 20" wheels). He denied that there are any delays (for "customer sold" vehicles) and told me I should have my VIN by the end of the week.

Oct 1st at 11:04am: My X5 35d is born!
BMW NA associate congratulated me and gave me my VIN; cautioning that in rare cases the VIN may change before delivery. The estimated completion date is Saturday, Oct. 4th. The associate said to call back on Monday Oct. 6th for an estimated delivery date.

I'll post an update when it gets delivered or if it gets delayed. Unfortunately my vehicle is a litmus test for delays regarding 20" 469M and/or Luxury Seating Package (ZLS) with Mocha Nappa Leather.

FWIW - MyBMW and automated 1-800 number still state "documented but no confirmed production date"

I got an update from BMW customer service via email today and they said no VIN assigned and no production date scheduled. So I had my SA get an update from BMW and now they say week 43, which brings it to Oct 20. That's a 4 week build delay from the Sept 22 original date.

I ordered 20" wheels and the Nappa Mocha interior. I doubt the delay has anything to do with those options considering the above post. Maybe it's another option I ordered as it has just about every option other than SA, third row seat and the B&O audio system.

Oct 4th MyBMW and automated 1-800 number show production has begun and now shows the colors, packages and options

Oct 6th MyBMW and automated 1-800 unchanged.
1-800 BMW NA Rep says my X5 is still in production but the estimated date of completion has been changed to the 9th.

Let the delays begin? I hope this is the only one.

Its usual with all X5 from the beginning. They move 1 day for all the cars after production starts and as far as I have seen, that's the only move.

This was true for me too. Original production date was Sept 29 with completion Oct 1. Then on Oct 1 the completion date was changed to Oct 6. And indeed the production was completed today Oct 6 and now awaiting assignment to carrier. I think what happens is that the system just gives an initial production start date within a production week, but the real production start date isn't determined until things start rolling later in the week. The key is to have the production actually start rolling in the body shop. After that it seems to take 3 or 4 days to get through the paint shop, assembly and final touches. And the automated recorded statuses are always a day or two behind reality. Ditto for MyBMW tracking .

I always recommend you speak to a real person @ the BMW order status line.

When you hear the automated status update, I think you press "one"
