Do the new X5s have a latch available for the middle seat?

I know my wife's 2012 X5 only has 2 latches in the back for the car seats. Does anyone know if the middle seat in the rear or third row have latch connections for booster seats?

Are you referring to the LATCH (in caps) at the bottom of the seatbacks or the hook on the back of the seat? If the former, then no. If the latter, then yes.

Don't have the third row, so can't speak on that.

The LATCH for the booster. Not the latch on the back of the seat. darn. Really wanted LATCH in the middle so you could have 3 boosters in LATCH

I know, I would love LATCH in the middle too

I doubt you would be able to fit 3 even if it did have the LATCH points. We have 2 car seats and there's no way there's enough room in between for a booster or another car seat, and that's with one seat rear facing (more shoulder room, if you will..), and that's with the Rear Comfort seats which don't have side bolsters (also more "shoulder room" on the outsides). Most boosters I've seen seem to be just as wide at the bottom as car seats.

If it's a booster seat and not a baby/car seat shouldn't you just be using the seatbelt to secure the child and the booster in the vehicle, or are you wanting to do both?

I can only speak to the E70 but I had a F15 loaner and checked this out. The F15 is only slightly larger than the E70 and I am pretty sure this information is accurate. BMW's only have latch systems in the rear left and right seat. There is not a latch system in the center seat. There is much debate if you can put a child in the center seat utilizing the right and left latch. That is up to you to decide if it is acceptable for your family.

I have had two kids in an X5 since birth and they are now 8 and 5. I have been through all variations of kid seats at various stages and you will not be able to put 3 kids seats in the back. We have had an adult squeez into the center clear with two car seats but it was not ideal.

The third row does not have a latch system and a car seat will not fit back there. A booster barely fits in the third row and it is very difficult to buckle the belt I'd there is a booster.

You do not use the latch system for booster seats. They are designed to allow for the use of the cars seat belts and no additional restraints. I have had

I can confirm that in our X5 we did have 3 car seats in the back seat and no issues with fitting them from baby car seats to booster seats.

I can confirm that in our 2002 X5 we did have 3 car seats in the back seat and no issues with fitting them from baby car seats to booster seats. We have twins and older child and they all fit in the back nicely
Depends on the car seats I guess. Our Britax car seats have those big side cushions on the outside of the seat, on both sides. I can't even fold the middle seat down without having to squeeze those cushions in to get it past them. No way a third would fit and I've tried a booster that also did not fit very well. My wife can actually sit back there but only with her arms up resting on the kids laps, and she's tiny. Fitting 3 is tough to do properly. Not saying it's impossible for all, but with some of the bulkier seats, it seems to me to be..

A lot of the newer boosters have latch belts too. Some even have a full harness for a small window where your kid may be too big for a car seat but you still want to use a full harness. I may end up doing that, as my son may outgrow the car seat in height long before he does in weight. But can't say for sure yet about the harness, as we're not there yet..

You need the latch system for boosters so they don't become projectiles in the event of a crash without kids in them.
