My New X5 Is Down...
So I have about 450 total miles, still on the first tank of gas and a Engine light came on last week. Took it in yesterday and they said it had to do with a sensor that checks emission gases that are routed back to the engine for cooling or something. They replaced the sensor this morning but that did not fix it. Now they say they need to replace the cylinder that the gases come out of, which could take weeks to get the part if there is even one to be found.
Great, so they gave me a X1 to drive in the mean time, now I only had a short time in the X5, but what a difference. Sucks |

Your right - that is a bummer.
But out of curiosity what engine to you have? You talk about having done 450 miles on your first tank of "gas". The use of gas as fuel would indicate the 35i, but then the range of 450 miles would indicate the 35d diesel engine. Just to compound the mystery your indicate drive is a "X5 i35D" whatever that is. Just curious. Tony |

That's a bummer! Hopefully they'll get it fixed-up ASAP and back to you better than ever. Availability if parts has been difficult to predict based on the accidents/failures reported to date.
Just because it's assembled in SC does not mean all parts are stateside. I originally thought that engine and drivetrain were from Germany, but all else was built in the U.S. This is not the case as I'm waiting for a bumper from Germany myself. |

Drove to NoVA this weekend and just passed the 1200 miles break in period with no issues. Knock on fine line wood trim.

Need better service
Can someone give me BMW's head office contact info.
My 2011 X5 has been at my local dealer for 8 months now as they cannot get the check engine light off. When it's being driven I get an engine malfunction error with reduced power. I need to write head office to get some better assistance. |

I had a similar issue at 800 miles, but mine was a hairline crack in one of the turbo intake "sleeves".
If they cant figure out what is wrong (as was the situation with mine) make sure they do a smoke test to find any cracks/leaks.
