However, things like ventilation will need coding and extra physical buttons/control module on dash panel Physical seat removal isn't hard - just 4 torx bolts for seat base and couple seatbelt bolts It's worth it imho as comfort seats are indeed more comfy especially for longer trips Finding matching color seats in good condition and not for sky high price can be a pain |

I'd love to swap out my ventilated comfort seats for simply heated and see how much more comfortable they are

I haven't been able to find anything, I was considering replacing my crappy "sports" seats with the multi contour ones if only I could manage to come across one in the same color. Would you mind sharing where you found yours?

Has anyone actually done this swap? I'm thinking of possibly passing my X5 to the wife and she wants more support as she's driving with sport seats in her 3-series now.

Easiest would be to find just drivers seat of same color and without ventilation - in that case swap it yourself as there will be no coding required, just 4 torx bolts for seat. Literally just unbolt 4 torx bolts and unplug 1 socket under the seat. The seat runs about $900 (used in good condition), so it's not cheap. |

What about seat belt and airbag? In most of the offers for seats found on famous auction sites, seats come without airbag. is it easy to transfer the existing airbags to the new seats?

Best way to do it is to get pinout from ISTA - there are ALL pinouts with photos and diagrams, everything is numbered and explained etc. Check the Maverik259 thread about ISTA and how to install it: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1568962 I don't have ISTA, otherwise I would have posted m sport seat module wiring diagram. So you'll have to do some leg work. Or you can bring it to some reputable local auto electrician and he'll be able to wire it for you. |

I'd like just the upgraded driver seat - same leather color and plug and play. Other than Ebay not sure where to find them....

I have the standard leather dakota black seats and bought on famous auction site a pair of comfort seat in fantastic condition.
When i tried to remover the 4 bolts of the standard driver seat, it was quite difficult but succeeded for 3 of them. Remaining 4th was so hard that i damaged the bolt shape and the torx key does not fit in anymore. tried different way to extract the bolt without success. Any idea how to remove it$? sounds like being glued with loctite¨! Last edited by fred9035; 06-30-2020 at 03:24 PM.. |
