X5 Newbie - reliability and extended warrenty costs?
New to this section - been hanging out in the 5 series. On my fourth consecutive 5'er and fancy a change and I do like the X5's especially the F15's I'm thinking of moving to a F15 2014 build.
How's the reliability of these cars doing please? Some research shows the E70 was not so good.... Also, anyone know what the BMW extended warranty prices are like in the UK for sub 60000 mile cards? Thanks!

My E70 was very reliable even after hitting a deer and someone driving into my front passenger side wheel and breaking my suspension. Solid machine.
So far the F15 has been great. Only issue is the oil pan drain bolt stripped the pan and that was costly; not sure if this one was my fault or not. |

Hello all,
I'm new to the forums. I own a 2014 x5. (I love the "SAV"!) The warranty is approaching an end so i'm contemplating buying an extension which is expensive or trading the x5 in for another newer one. Obviously the latter would cost me more. Has anyone had issues post warranty expiration. What would you do? Thank you for your thoughts -S |

I believe my first F15 was a 2014 was a fully loaded X-line and had a starter solenoid issue but it was covered under a recall. My second is a 2016 M-Sport and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend getting X5 with the DHP. Both of mine were 35i models but I have heard the 50i are known to be a bit more temperamental. Good luck with the search. They are a great all round SAV. |

No issues after 26,000 miles in 4 years.
Other than consumables like tires, brakes, and minor electrical, the xDrive35i should have little to no issues granted you purchase one and low KM. Extended warranty can vary with different 3rd party warranty companies/insurance but usually around 3-5K for 3-5 years depending on the level of coverage. |
