PCD of Long Beach Blue X5M via Milano, Italia
Who says that a Performance Center Delivery can't have European aspect in travel. For my 8th PC taking delivery of a 2018 F85, Long Beach Blue with full Sonoma beige interior, ZEC, B&O, Apple CarPlay, with roof rails and trim in satin aluminum, 21" wheels. This is the 2nd X vehicle that I have coordinated with the PC staff flying in from Europe before, as 1st time was back in 2014 when I took ED delivery of a 435 vert and flew from Frankfurt via ATL to GSP for PCD of a F15 N63 M sport, now retired. Both vehicles were delivered the same calendar week.
Some photos of Malpensa Aeroporto early morning, Delta A-330, Delta One and meals for the 1st leg (MXP-JFK), then JFK-ATL and finally ATL-GSP. Why all the connections? Delta cuts back service to/from Milan in the winter as summer time schedule has flights from Atlanta and Detroit. Just like GSP having a US manufactured X vehicle on display, German car rental firm Sixt had a G30 on display in Terminal 1. More to come.....

Finally took delivery at the PC on 1/12/2018, #8 PCD for me- never gets old. The Marriott driver had to be shown how to remove the X5 rear cargo latch to fit 5 suit cases and 4 carry on bags upon airport check-pick up, but how many customers arrive with all this luggage? However, staff was outstanding, delivered our luggage to the room/ stored the other pieces (wine suitecases, ect...) so we could just have dinner- despite flying business class, it's a long day waking up 11pm ET with 3 connections. 4 wheel garment bag missed connection from ATL to GSP and was rerouted to CHS, delivered to my house before I arrived home from the PC- was a blessing as luggage would have been tight for the drive home, but have packed former X5 this tight/
As I was recently at the PC on December 14th, 2017 for my ED M4 vert pick-up and Andy Van Cliff was my instructor both visits, he opened up the lower PC course as there was a longer straight away- I sensed that Andy was excited of a XM5 in the group and I thank him for this. The track was wet, as we had to keep DSC on, but I had the vehicle in M1 (sport/sport/comfort), coming out of the straight away after breaking down from 75 mph with a 180 degree turn, followed by a slight double turn I felt the DSC stabilize the rear tires preventing a oversteer. I had to slow down for up 5 secs at a time as I was catching up the cars in front on me to give more space. The X5M handled very well on wet track for a vehicle that size, as IbizasWife states behind at the hotel for a client conference call, I had all of the track time!

More photos... Ibiza's wife has the LV keychain with matching LLB leather driving gloves we picked up in Firenze (I hate the make up on the steering wheel).
