thanks for the info Travis1807

i ordered the same for my x5m wheels on my f15 but my tire shop was able to source front and rear from tirerack wholesale even though i did not have access to any inventory through the site. so hope it actually works out and perhaps they got something not available through retail channels or something.

if not, i know where to get them on ebay.

I could only find the rear 21s Yokohama BluEarth WINTER V905 at tirerack, so instead I opted for its precursor the Yokohama WINTER Drive V905 (they look exactly the same but made of different rubber compound) of which I was lucky to find a full set staggered 21s for a net sum of $1,200 mounted on my X6M.

Drove up the snowy mountains in eastern WA with confidence and I have to say these tires really grip the road and are quiet and comfortable. I'm very happy with their performance and they look good too.

A little bit of tidbit- all four summer tires were able to fit in the cargo area closed once the rear seats backrest are folded down - no need of a second vehicle to transport them.

FWIW, I am using the same 19' winter set on my F86 that I previously used on my 2011 x6 5.0 and 2014 x6m. No issues with clearance, etc. Only issue is that the TPMS in F86 are different from the prior model so I either need to replace them or go with out TPMS functionality.

I guess they could sell the Yokohama to you for $12,000 if you want them to be expensive

Have you had these installed yet? No issues with clearance or ECU with the 295 up front? Did you go with 295/30 and 325/35 on the stock 21's?
Update: Yokohama BlueEarth is fantastic in the snow.

Hey folks I'm moving to chicago from NY, and I've got the 20" OEM winters with pirelli scorpions (I think) and the 21" OEM Summers with Michelin PSS (IIRC). I was thinking of selling the 20" and just getting new tires for the 21s that I could potentially use year round in this area. Anyone from Chicago know if that would be possible or should I still go with a dedicated Summer and Winter tire set?

Curious why you would have dedicated sets for both seasons in NY and think all seasons on 21s would be ok in Chicago....

Their winters are worse than ours. I would keep both sets.

Yeah, I was being delusional. I'm moving from a house with a garage, my own floor jack, and space to store my other set of wheels - to an apartment, with NONE of those. So trying to figure out a way to downsize. It looks like folks are running decent snows now on 21s, guess I could sell my 20s and go that route...

Totally depends on the winter weather we are having in any particular year - but, I've always had a set of summers and winters - starting with a 335i in 2007 through today in the X5M. When the temp drops below 45-50F the summers get stiff, way better on winters. The only real trick is figuring out when it will stop snowing before you switch back to summers.

In place of swapping tires on a single set of wheels on the current car I bought 2 sets of wheels (stock 21's and winter 20's). If you buy from a BMW dealer you can ask them to store the winter/summer sets when you're not using them, and use your BMWCCA discount as well. In the city they will try to charge you a "storage fee" which you can negotiate off the invoice or go to the suburbs where they store them for free.

Thanks man - much appreciated. I'll keep the 2 sets and see if maybe I can't swing a dealer there to store them for me for free, since they are all OEM wheel sets, somewhere out in the burbs (I'll be working up near Mettawa). And hopefully Kimi will have a good year next year!

Saw them earlier but not for $830 shipped. Maybe something changed. Does anyone have any real world feedback on these?

That's cause they only come in run-flats in 21s. 20s can get non-runflats and $600 cheaper for a set. Yokos in 21s are about $800 cheaper than the Scorpions

Sorry if this question has been answered - I skimmed through most of this thread, but just wanted to confirm.

I am about to pickup a 2016 X5M. Currently it has 285/40/20 Scorpions on all 4 corners. My question is -- Does this mean the previous owner opted for the smaller rear wheel? Will I still be able to mount a 325/35/20 summer tire on it?

I guess what I am asking is can the 10.5 wheel fit BOTH the 285/40/20 and the 325/35/20?

Thanks for the help!

You will be fine, I have the BMW Pirelli Scorpion winter wheel/tire package on my F85 X5M, and I have the OEM 612 21" wheel/tire set for Summer.
