X5 order to delivery times

Curious to know what sort of time scale people are currently given for delivery times. I placed an order at the end of September and was told to expect around 18 weeks delay until delivery for an X5 hybrid. Is this standard or do different countries have very different build allocations?
Thanks

Garage List
2014 Audi S7  [0.00]
2015 BMW X5  [0.00]
In US, you typically receive your car in 3-5 weeks from the order date.

Looks like the UK is a long way down on the priority list, even accounting for shipping from South Carolina....

I heard my colleague's friend in UK got the similar message about 3-5 months.

When customizing the cars from Land Rover or Jaguar, we got the long wait and delay, too. My last experience was Porsche Cayenne would arrive in the end Jan/Feb 2018 if I order it before the end of September in New York.

This is why those dealers always ask us to pick up the cars from their lots if you don't want to wait and you like to get better price.

Anyway, from the car was ordered to arrived, my x35i was about 20-days (8-days production) and my 40e was about 24-days (12-days production). As jlstyle mentioned, 3-5 weeks would be very common over here as long as BMW plant has everything your car needs.

And the schedule and status of the cargo ship could also be the big factor.

I believe that’s true, unless your build includes something from the BMW Individual Collection. I ordered Piano Black interior trim for my 2018 xDrive 35i over (4) weeks ago and I don’t think production has even started. My dealer said they had to wait for a special allocation needed for an Individual Collection build.

Ordered my X50d just before Xmas 17 and picked up end of March this year. I did have BMW Individual leather seats and dash and trim.
Build date is about the same as USA however the shipping can be 3-4 weeks depending on which boat the car is allocated.
Also the car leaves USA and goes to Germany first for quality control then arrives in Southampton.
So allow 8-12 weeks, but your dealer will know better once the order is confirmed.

I think your dealer’s allocation priority plays into this as well. We got both X5’s in 2 weeks from order.

Double QC? After production at Plant Spartanburg and then upon arrival in Germany? Curious as to why?

Not sure however the vehicles definitely go to Germany first for QC before arriving in the UK. Maybe someone could elaborate?

I ordered my M50d on the 17th of November and they had a “Build Confirmed” 1200 Car slot already, I then amended that car to my spec. I’m expecting to collect mine on the 27th of Jan. I would add a good few weeks on top of that where a dealer doesn’t already have a slot in the queue.
