Currently in Florida....but got a call that the F15 has arrived at the dealership...picking it up on Saturday...very excited...

They were trying to sell me an Appearance Package and a Rim Protection Package for almost $2400!!! :cry

***UPDATE: Issues with tires, there is 20' Performance (summer tires) on the car and we are debating on finding a solution...car is not picked up yet...****
***UPDATE II : We agreed to the following:
I went for option 1: I pay half of the $3800 plus HST on delivery (total of $2147 x 2 installments), dealer then keeps my summer tires and rims until I have the second installment paid. At that point, they switch my tires over (free of charge) and i can take the summers with me.****
A couple of photos before the rim change...looks stunning IMO!!!!

Big congrats!

How ironic that you went south to the warmth of Florida while your poor new car went north and straight into the midst of another freezing cold Toronto winter. I hope you got all the cold weather options!

And if my dealer pulled that I would be tempted to tell him he's going to need to buy some appearance protection for his face

Funny you mentioned it...I was actually thinking about the same thing myself...

interesting that as i called my insurance company to add the car to our plan, they couldn't identify the VIN # as the 35d isn't still in their database...they only had 35i and 50i...so does that men I'm the first 35d driver to insure a Diesel F15 with that insurance company up here??...lol
They told me that they will figure it out in the coming days before Friday to add my vehicle...

CilaJet isn't bad choice to protect exterior paint and interior leather. I paid $700 which comes with 10 year warranty with another application due at 5th year. The superb detailing would alone cost $200. So, I felt $700 is worth.

you're right...although I got a $800 (CAD) quote...
can't really add additional at this point as I'm already maxed out on the capital....

yesterday I got a price of $1,600 CAD for rim/wheel package from the dealership

to my opinion, all protections are worth it, as just a wheel and rim would cost you that much...even the appearance package of $700 well pays for itself if there a probelm...it's all about having the capital to invest...

@Shaw I got it from the dealer, they started with $1300. All I did is, said I will give $500 max, give it or leave it. and they did. Its with 10 yr warranty, also every 2 year they will redo it.

^ a BIG NO! You are putting your own and everyone else's lives at risk trying performance tires in the winter!

Honestly though, if it snows even a little bit you'll be all over the place. I'm surprised they put performance 20s on a Luxury line actually. I have pirelli snow and ice scorpions waiting to go on my msport as soon as it arrives.

That would be a very bad idea. Summer tires have virtually no grip when the temperature drops. Couple that with the larger contact area and you're asking for trouble.

This is the reason I didn't go with the more attractive 20" wheels on my F15 35d - I bought it to get us around in snow and ice and having the 20's with summer tires is a bad idea...

Congrats. I'm in Hawaii when I found out my X5 is available at the dealership. It's nice to be out of the snow for a change.

I'm picking up mine on Feb 15th.

I bought winter tires bc the 20" come with perf tires. Like the others say, don't use summer tires in the winter, even when the ground is dry. The tires slide easily like hockey pucks.

Even at 10 degrees celcius, I remember my Ducati tires loosing tremendous amount of grip.

I wish I had known that earlier....not only you pay a $1,000 extra for the 20", now I have to think about winter tires??!!!

WELL THIS IS A COMPLETE MESS:
I only have 2 options:
buy the tires Pirelli Scorpion winter tires that fits the 20" rim for $2,600 +HST
or buy a winter package of 19" for $3,800+ HST (13%)
for option 2, I would be driving with 19" half the year! so I'm not sure what the upgrade to 20" was for??!!!!
I paid $1000 for 20" upgrade, now I have to pay another $4,000 to get a 19" on my car...so $5,000 to get the same 19" set??!!!!
I could have had 19" all season package (standard) for FREE!!! I'm at rage right now!!!

People rave about Continental ExtremeContact DWS. There are many accounts of their wonderful snow capability in even in the 20" size. These are all-season tires that can be used year round. These are not as good as dedicated snow tires, but really, do a search. People that have real-world experience using these in the snow rave about them. These are what I'm getting when we get our X5 in a few weeks. Going straight to the tire shop for a swap.
