possible fitment issues advice needed

Hi guys,

So long story short, I've been a victim of false advertising and am stuck with a set of wheels that have wrong offsets. I thought I was purchasing a set of wheels 20x10 ET 40 and 20x11 ET 35. You could imagine the look on my face when I saw that they were actually ET 45 and ET 40

Need some advice on how these might fit and if I should go through the hassle of fighting for a refund. (these wheels took me a long time to find and were quite hard to get)....

Well 5mm isn't that big of a difference. Not that this makes it ok.
What wheels you buy?

You can always add 5mm spacers

Hi Turbo,

I got a set of reps (flame suit activate) . I actually remember you wanted to get a set as well and i told you to wait and pay more for an OEM set

depending on the marketplace where you bought it from (ebay/paypal?), there's recourse to get your money back and start over.

I wouldn't live with it, that's for sure.

So If i go with 5mm spacers, that would make the stance look "stock". having said that, I know members on this forum add 5mm spacer in front and 15mm spacer in the rear... would I be able to go 10mm front and 20mm rear then?

20mm in the rear would be fine.

The front you can only go 5mm. Any bigger you run the risk of not having enough hub lip to rest the wheel on or what a lot of people realized is that the spacer won't sit flat on the hub. There is a whole thread about spacers on here somewhere that talks about it.

Sounds like you like the wheels as they took you a long time to find/get. So, returning them doesn't sound like what you want to do.
Spacers are the easy solution, but incurs additional cost, so I'd ask the vendor to compensate you the cost (partial cost perhaps) of purchasing them. That saves them the hassle of the refund process, negative customer service ratings, and overall headache.
If they say they'll send you some spacers, ask exactly what brand and if you're not happy with a generic eBay set, settle on a $$ amount they refund you so that you can buy H&R or ECS Tuning or something from Ben.

This sounds like a good plan of action. I'll have to do this and see what i can get. And you are right, hard to find and i got a good deal on them...

I'd put the wheels on as is without spacers. I don't think adding 5mm spacers is worth the cost and hassle. See how you like them. Perhaps you may want to go bigger after seeing how they fit.

IF you are going to chase for a refund, don't mount them (unless you have already). The minute you mount the tires and conversely to the car, they're used. Typically, you're not going to see a vendor give you your money back. That said, did they arrive with tires mounted?
