So my X5 hasn't been feeling well lately and I just picked it up after a full week at the dealer in order to address the following issues. Let me preface that I have a stellar relationship with the service advisors and the techs:
-My a/c crapped out, had a freon leak at the condenser, replaced condenser
-Instrument panel was blanking out, SIB
-CD player (wife's car and she still loves her cds) stopped storing cds despite 75% storage availability, PUMA open, new head unit
-Front suspension noise, couldn't duplicate
-Rear rattle, attributed to tailgate, but it's not the tailgate

Long story short, tech curbed my LF wheel. My SA was upfront/honest and immediately texted me. I was annoyed at first, but things happen. They had their mobile wheel guy repair it. However, I'm OCD (I don't even allow them to wash my cars after service), and in the direct sunlight you can see the different finish--more metallic finish than a machine finish. Also, there is a slight edge that doesn't match up perfectly. But it's obviously not going to be perfect and of course I'm focusing on the repair. Plus I gotta say, my MSport is not aging well, I am peppered with rock chips at the usual places. Anyway, they would consider replacing the wheel if I continue to perseverate on it, but I don't want to be THAT GUY and make a bigger deal of it than it really is. I tried taking pics, but it's hard to photograph. So...move on or insist on a replacement?

That is a side effect of machined wheels... If the damage was severe enough the wheel repair tech had to go deep to hide the damage and blend. There really is no way around that without doing the entire wheel over or replacing with a new one. (If you do the entire wheel over you may as well do all four because it will stand out more than what you have now.)

To be honest if i knew it was the dealer's fault i would fight for a replacement. It wasn't your fault after all and if you aren't happy with the outcome you should tell them.

I went through a similar situation where my wheel was damaged changing summer to winter tires. I was offered a new wheel when I pointed out the damage. I'm pretty OCD and things like that bother me. If it bothers you, I would ask for a new wheel. It was their fault so they should make you 100% satisfied.

Honesty goes a long way for me. Things like these happens all the time and it will happen again. Your SA was upfront and offered to fix the damage they had caused. He could've remained quiet and not say a thing. Then the burden of proof would have been on you. DEFINITELY express that you are not 100% satisfied with the fix and see if they offer something better. If not, I (personally) would just leave the matter at that. Thankfully its just the wheel. If it was something else (body/engine/electrical/suspension work) then its a different story. You said it yourself you have a stellar relationship with the SA and techs. You might need a favor or two later down the road; especially if you are running a tune, non-oem equipment products, coding work, etc. Good luck!

Dishonesty is why I asked for a new door panel $3500 rather than repair as the damage was not disclosed. Upon my discovery, I drove back to dealer and asked technician if they damaged the car, response was no. I take a step back and ask again, response was, I answered that already. I then speak to service supervisor, show them the damage, he concurred. I explained, had the guy come clean I would have likely accepted a repair being reasonable but the denial and dishonesty put my guard up to request a new door panel. So honesty does pay. As Neuera09 stated, its a feather in your cap.

Wow you guys are bit over the board! It's just a rim and it's going to get some sort of scratch over time no matter what, and I'm sure that scratch isn't visible couple days after the car wash due to rubber residue sticking on the fascia. Don't be a that guy - life is too short of hold on to such a little thing.

This.
There is no paint on the wheel face. So the repair guy paints the spot to mimic the machined face.
I've wondered if a repair could be polished to match and then clear coated. Any thoughts?

New wheel.

BMW will not offer warranty on any reconditioned wheels so when these start to corrode in a couple of years (as they all do), you'll be left with a bill to replace it.

It seems harsh, but it's fair.

One option you may have is getting a wheel from another f15 they have on the lot. They should have a used car with a perfect wheel. Ask them to switch out. That is an in between/reasonable compromise.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment.

I'm sorta leaning toward letting it go. My wife couldn't care less. I had to point it out to her. Besides, in a year from now we'll be looking to sell it before the warranty expires.

Now if this had happen to my M3, there wouldn't be a question

I'd rather they didn't repair that at all.

I've had curbed wheels repaired, including once on our '14 X5d, and you cannot tell it was repaired. From what I can see on in the photos, that's not a very good repair and unless they could make it right, I would have it replaced.

I'd have to agree here. When I had my wheels curbed, I did a bunch of research on how shops that did the work and the good ones you literally can't tell they've been repaired (at least from pictures).

I would suggest maybe letting the dealership know that the finish on the repair is not 100% and have their repair guy redo it one more time for you.

That sucks! Personally, living in the city, my wheels would get curbed sooner or later. I'll still try to get the dealer to compensate me on this with free servicing or something instead (anything that amounts to a $800 value.

I'll second this. I had all 4 of my wheels re-finished (under warranty) by a local shop here in Vancouver which does great work. The OE 469M's were corroding from the center cap outwards. I pushed BMW to replace, but they could only get approval for re-finish only. If memory serves correct, i had about 65K on the car the time. Unless I told you they've been done, they look OEM.

Different, but the same, but my front bumper was scratched while in dealer possession for service, they gladly paid for the bumper re-work. I took advantage of the bumper being off and installed open grilles and M50D trim (painted MW).

Good for you for not freaking out.

I'm the grand scheme, not a big deal.

And the fact that they owned up tomit like they did is impressive.

Kudos to all of you.

If you have time in your hands, ask them to replace for a new one. Their mistake wasnt fully addressed, although I appreciate your SA's honesty. Doesnt hurt to ask and see what the response is.

It's your car. They degraded its condition. They're on the hook to either restore it to its original condition or replace it, and only you should be the judge of if the former is acceptable.

They'd charge you a higher interest rate for financing if your credit had some imperfections
