Welcome lights during the day?

I noticed that my DRLs (halos) don't come on when unlocking the car during the day but always come on at night. Is this normal? Anyone know how to code it so that they come on during the day as well?

I'm pretty sure it does not turn on during the day ambient lighting and if it was cloudy and dark, it would turn on. I believe there is a senor that detects how much light there is.

yah, I'm coming to that conclusion as well. I'm hoping someone knows how to code this to ignore the light sensor.

I noticed mine only activated at night a few months ago and thought it was a problem.....seems not!

On my M5 they activated on every unlock so it appears BMW have changed the parameters.

Coding is to ignore the sensor, right? Maybe you could locate the sensor and cover it permanently?

Sure, that's possible but I don't want to turn off everything else the sensor is used for.

Yeah I think the sensor also triggers your ambient lights in the interior, dash, and the courtesy step lights under the handles.
