Looking for NYC Metro X5ers advice on winter set-up...

I just got a 2016 X5 (M Sport, fairly loaded) with 20" wheels and summer run flat tires. I don't have the toy spare. Based on the feel, I think I would prefer non-run flats, and perhaps get the toy inflatable spare. Thoughts from NY Metro locals?

Also, my former car was an Audi A8 with Sport Package on which I rotated summer and winter tires on OEM 19" rims. But I frequently got pot-hole bubbles (I drive into Manhattan from Westchester daily) and at least one flat in 10 years.

I'm thinking of trying to buy the 19" M Sport Wheels (467M) for the X5 for the winter set, but wondering what local X5 drivers think? Should I go all the way to 18"? Very difficult to find the 19" M Sport OEMs (467M), and not sure how the extra size and weight of the X5 will be handled when confronting local pot holes on 19's vs 18's. On the other hand, worried about the handling with narrower/taller tires, and the look.

Finally, advice on where to find either wheel set? Has anyone used autorimshop.com?

I just bought the Pirelli Snow & Ice and put them on my 469M wheels. They’ve been great so far They actually ride a little less harsh than the Pirelli summer tires that come stock.

Thx I placed that exact order on Sunday to TireRack but cancelled due to fear of potholes versus 20" wheels. You have no concerns in N NJ?

I've purchased Yokohama blue earth v905 for winter set up on my 20" wheels about 2 months ago and so far I've been lucky with potholes and no issues at all. However, going with small rims will definitely give you more forgiving on potholes for sure. Also, I didn't want to lose the look so I just switched up tires. Although, 95, 87, and BRP is pretty rough roads and I think you know better but for me I don't think I can stand smaller rims on the X5.

Nope, and the roads around here suck almost as bad as NYC, where I drive very often.

There have been plenty of people trying to sell their 467Ms. Search the classifieds. Don't just look on the front page as some people let their ads get stale after long periods of no takers. I think M3ANMACHINE was someone whom we tried desperately to get him a sale.

Im in NY and dodge potholes professionally. Had very good luck running 19s for winter set up. Never had a blowout although I had a few holy shit moments waiting for the TPM to go wild when a pothole was unavoidable.

I have a few asks out on the Classifieds here as well as those on BimmerFest and the regional threads as well. Nothing solid coming out. I contacted M3ANMACHINE through personal message but he has not responded. If you know him, please let him know!?

Thinking of going to eBay or has anyone used autorimshop.com for refurbished wheels or is there a better place? I'd have to buy center caps and M labels as well however.
