Dynamic Sway Bar Oil Leak! Common issue?
Just doing a once over on my 2015 x35i which has 31k miles and noticed the front sway bar leaking hydraulic fluid! Of course it is the DHP (dynamic handling package) and adaptive M suspension equipped vehicle.
A bit bummed out to think my car is going to have to get torn into to get replaced. Thankfully it is still under warranty but looks like it will require subframe removal. Is this something common? The rear sway bar looked nice and clean and leak free. |

Yes, to those that have the DHP, expect that depending on how hard you drive at some point this is one of several known failure items. Mine hasn’t yet, 41k miles, but my go to Indy pointed out that component as being first to go south.

On my old 550 my front sway bar would get wet sometimes. I figured it was leaking from the threaded hose connection. It was never a full on dripping leak. Just wet. I would check the hose tightness every time I changed oil and was under car.
The leak never got worse for the 6 years I had it.. |

It's just very few have DHP and not much failures documented here on forum. I think I see this for the first time. Let's hope it was a factory flaw and replacement you'll get will have no issues
