As a reference, someone hit my drivers side passenger side flare and it needed to be repainted. I ended up finding a single oem flare in AW on e-bay that was taken off of a parts car. I intended just to swap it out as it looked perfect in their pictures...When it arrived, not so much. The gave me a full refund due to this so I decided I'd just get quotes to have it prepped and painted. I received quotes from $60 to $300 to prep and paint. That's a huge range! I actually went with the shop that quoted me $60 as they had a ton of great reviews and seemed to quickly be able to identify what needed to be done to get it prepped and painted with a quick turnaround. The shop that quoted me $300 didn't seem to know what they were talking about and the guy that gave me the quote lacked confidence. TL;DR: higher price does not always mean better end result. Also, for those flares, they are a simple sand/prime/paint. That's as easy as it can get for a body shop. Some shops just want to tack on excess labor hours, supplies costs etc...especially if they are primarily dealing with insurance companies. I personally wouldn't pay more than $300 to have all 4 of those flares painted.

Hey guys,
Just posting some updated pics of my truck equipped with the eBay/KITT fender flares and a few other mods: -21" 310M wheels w/ Pirelli P Zero RFT tires (staggered 325/30 R and 285/35 F) -lowered on H&R sport springs (1.6" R and 1.5" F) -tint front windows to match rear (as much as possible) -painted front reflector to match body (Black Sapphire Metallic) I've attached a before pic too...crazy how it doesn't even look like the same truck anymore, imo. This thing handles unbelievably now (for an SUV errrr SAV lol). |

Same here. But now that I'm getting a bit older and married and have a home, it's nice to see a deal here and there, and your dollar go a bit further. If only I'd known this in my 20's lol.

Even my condo which I owned for 8 years before I even met her...frickin bs man! ok not gonna rant, not gonna rant...I'm so much happier, I'm so much happier...serenity now! But yeah, I wish I started deal shopping in my 20's too.

Has anyone ever thought or know the Up/down side of just having the stock black trim/flares wraped to color match the vehicle ?
I get if you need the flares for bigger wheels but like in my case i just want them to be color matched. Any thoughts? |

As far as I know you can't really wrap textured plastic. I don't think it will stick. Think you need a smooth surface. I could be wrong, but the videos I've watched on YouTube have said that.
