Wheel Alignment

Hello,

Just curious where people go for wheel alignment for your X5? I was just going to default to local BMW dealership but they also want $200 ($150 with a coupon) vs. local NTB charging $100. I presume you get what you paid for but would like to get forums' thoughts.

Thanks!

Go to any shop with modern alignment equipment. They should have the alignment
specs for E70 which will work for for F15.

I think dealer is way overrated. I did an alignment once there and kept going back because they couldn't get the steering centered... thats embarrassing especially for a $220+ alignment.

If you really want something cheap, try Groupon, you can get wheel alignment done less than 60 bucks.

I paid $179 at a nearby dealer... the car still pulled and the steering was off-center. After other issues not being rectified by the same dealer, I decided to drive an additional 30 miles to a different dealer. Although they wouldn't warranty another dealers alignment (which I didn't expect them to) they had a coupon for $99 and took care of the other issues.

Try www.bimmershops.com. Enter your city and state and start calling. I'm sure you can get it done for less than a hundo.

My tyre shop offers alignment for free if I change my tyres, otherwise it's about 70$ including a tip.

Check yourself that the machine has a specific F85 setting, or you risk getting an outdated generic X5 setting.

I have a 2015 35D with DHP and 20s. Due to the DHP active suspension, does this vehicle need to have its alignment done at the dealer? Or can a well equipped tire shop (chain) or a BMW 3rd party shop handle the alignment? Are the values/specs for a DHP equipped vehicle different than other X5s without DHP?

I went to an excellent tire shop, but they did not see the values/specs for this suspension in the computer so they rather not align it. Are all camber settings the same for all X5 suspension types (including DHP)?

Thanks

I just had my 50i aligned at the local dealership. To my surprise, the spec sheet showed F85 X5M with 20" wheels (rear air suspension).

I do have 50i with 20" staggerd wheels but not air suspension. Did they use the wrong alignment specs?

I recently was quoted $385 for an alignment and tire rotation and balance after 9,000 miles and the first service from my dealer on my 2021 X5. I told them no way. Just Tires is having a sale for either a single tire rotation and balance or 3 years worth. To buy the 3-year deal (assumes once a year) plus rotating and balancing (since the tires didn't come from them) is about $189. Gonna save the $200 the dealer quoted.
