Cargo liner - which one is best?

I just can't decide which one of these is best. I will have plastic 2.5 gallon liquid chlorine bottles for my pool in the back and I sure don't want to damage the carpet. Any suggestions of which of these two cargo mats is best? There was a thread about this but, despite my efforts to search for it, I could not locate the thread.

I have B, and it works great. No experience with the other one.

I have the Cargo Mat B which matches the summer mats I got for the X5. I think if you have liquids to transport I would go with A. I believe (I can't see it too well) that one is the same as the Weathertech one http://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2015/x5/cargo-liner/. I bought the Weathertech one for my Jeep which is our cottage runner and typically carry a few gas cans for the Seadoos. Any spills are contained with "A". If you are ordering "A" you should probably order the matching Weathertech mats for the front as well. Just picked up mine today. They come with the BMW badging.

I just bought the thick rubber one, if it works like the one in my F30, I'll be happy.

I have B and really like it. Very grippy and looks good too with the little aluminum badging. I saw A in the dealership recently and it looked kinda floppy to me and ruffled around the edges. Could have just been rolled out though. when in doubt go weathertech though. I had them in my Tahoe and my carpets looked immaculate after a few years of kids and muddy feet.

I am very happy with my Canvasback liners. They protect the sides as well. Good if you have a dog or dirty items.

*this* - couldn't recommend a product more. I have both the Canvasback in my rear-hatch plus option A above. Extra layer of protection to keep the stock carpets in pristine condition. I ran the same combo in my SQ5 and the carpets in the rear-hatch were immaculate when turning the car in at end-of-lease. This after several camping / hiking trips, bikes in the back coated in mud, several trips to Home Depot with various messy / dirty items, etc, etc.

I "exchanged/blackmailed" my dealership to get an OEM set in exchange for a positive review on their survey.

Ps. They were already going to get excellent marks anyways!!

It looks like the main advantage of B is both the fitted shape and ability to retain use of the sliding hooks.

What cargo net do you have? I have the one from BMW that lies flat and acts as a hold down. I'm looking for one that goes upright having two sides to put stuff in between. Trying to find with 4 hooks similar to the OEM one is hard to find.

I service pools for a living. In my opinion each mat is going to serve the same purpose. Your real concern is that even if the mat contains all the liquid, it could splash up onto the side carpet which isn't covered in either option. You should find a container that you can set your jug in which will serve as a catch tank in case your jug fails. Maybe even tie it down to a corner so it doesn't flip over in case you have to make a sharp turn to avoid something.

They definitely come with the BMW badges? I did not read that on the website, but it would be great if they did.

I own both, B was included with the sale of the car and I later swapped to A. B is definitely more rigid and provides slightly more protection as it has "wings" that cover the storage bumpouts near the bumper. Another poster pointed out that you cannot use the storage hooks with B.

If you have the 3rd row like me, go with A so you don't have to leave the mat behind when you want to use the 3rd row. This was the main reason I stopped using B as there is no way to use the 3rd row and keep the cargo cover in the car. With A, you can simply roll it up behind the seat. If you don't have a 3rd row, I would go with B.

This is my second set of Weathertech mats (E70 and F15). Both sets had the "BMW" badging as per the pic I posted earlier. Make sure you buy them through the BMW dealership versus directly with Weathertech if you want the BMW badging.

Hate to change subjects but does anyone know of a cargo "net" that is upright or envelope style? I presently have the OEM BMW flat tie down type but looking for one that hooks upright that can hold something in it.

You might want to check these links:

Cargo Net
http://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Genuine...iglink20339-20

Cargo liner/protector
https://www.carbox.de/en/

https://www.carbox.de/en/bmw/x5/carb...unk-liner.html

The liner is somewhat expensive, but designed and hopefully made in Germany. Once exported, the recipient abroad (U.S.) doesn't pay the VAT, which makes the price a bit lower for you - 226 EUR instead of 269 EUR (though the shipping cost might be high).

You can also check for the their sales partners by contacting the manufacturer directly:

I got my X5 last night and installed Mat B in it - it's okay, doesn't seem to fit perfectly but will work. Noticed the sides in the back do not cover completely however.

Thanks for everyone's comments and pictures. Yes, mat B looks like it is more rigid. Mat A looks like it has turned up edges all around so I decided to go with A.

Here is X54TH's comment (I still don't know how to put multiple quotes in my posts):
"Hate to change subjects but does anyone know of a cargo "net" that is upright or envelope style? I presently have the OEM BMW flat tie down type but looking for one that hooks upright that can hold something in it."

I have to say that the cargo net that came in the secret compartment is envelope style but leaves something to be desired. The net has tiny hooks on each of the four corners. Those hooks just are not large enough to stay on to the attachment points to slide on the track and not even in the holes just aft of the hook for the privacy cover. We really need something more substantial. I want to be able to place grocery bags in the net and not worry about them falling over. The envelope style net does this best but not the version that came with my X5. The hooks are just too small. Any suggestions of where we can get a more substantial cargo net and also, where the hooks on a better net would go?
