2015 vs 2016 X5 35d Differences

Hi All,

I can't seem to find the differences between the 2015 and 2016 X5 35d. Does anyone have any info?

I'm contemplating purchasing a 2015 inventory model, with almost the options I am looking for, or whether its worth waiting a couple months for a 2016 model.

Should be no difference between them, besides the way the packages are packaged together.

No difference...
As SlammedR8 mentioned, they've just played with redefining the packages...
Plus that Mocha Nappa is now on the menu...but has nothing to do with diesel...2VM is also new on all 2016's.

Think 19" wheels standard vs 18" is one difference.

Biggest difference is the mandatory black lower interior. You can't have lower carpets in Canberra beige, for example. I just bought a 2015 because of that. Also, the smartphone integration is cheaper.

I think that is great. Black is much easier to keep clean.

Agree. Something would've been updated.

Is anyone able to get dealer allotments in Canada? Still on the fence whether i should get an 2015 inventory model.

I can see every dust spec on black. Also, the doors have all those streaks from people hitting them with their shoes. we have had Canberra beige for 4 years now and it looks as clean as it gets. But then, we have no snow here.

But again this is all personal preference. I would have just like to not be forced into the black interior.

It may have just been an EPA certification issue. Similar things have held up new car deliveries before when a new model year started.

Correct. BMW sought a change from B5 certification to B20. No engine changes but the EPA certification took longer due to the VW issue.

2014 vs later models diesels

On the subject of differences - are there any between the 2014 and 2015/16 on the xdrive35d? Particularly to engine/transmission??

Another question:
What do you think is a fair price for a 2014 models with these specs:
xDrive35d - 16K miles

Navigation System
Driver Assistance Package
Driver Assistance Plus
Premium Package
AM/FM radio
CD player
Satellite Radio w/1 Year Subscription
Air Conditioning
Rear window defroster
Comfort Access Keyless Entry
Head-Up Display
Lumbar Support
Power driver seat
Power steering
Power windows
Soft-Close Automatic Doors
Active Blind Spot Detection
Front fog lights
Power door mirrors
Roof rack: rails only
Active Driving Assistant
Auto-dimming Rear-View mirror
Garage door transmitter
Rear-view Camera
Speed Limit Information
Surround View
Tilt steering wheel
Dakota Leather Upholstery
Heated Front Seats
Split folding rear seat
Park Distance Control
Privacy glass
Rear manual side window shades

We definitely want the diesel and the used ones are hard to come by. There's one sitting at the dealer locally so I'm considering - they're asking 53K.

No differences from an engine/transmission perspective. That price sounds like a full retail price. A little perspective, the original MSRP for that X5 should have been close to $66k with an invoice around $61k. 2 years of depreciation is more than the $12k they are suggesting. I think you should start in the low/mid 40s and not settle for anything less than 10% off their asking price.

I missed that. So are the 2016's approved for use with B20?

Thanks mefferso. I tried to build a new one with those options just for comparison and got roughly $67 like you said. Glad to know to the Invoice and tips on depreciation!
