Question X5 Big Idea

I have a 2015 X5 (F15) 50i... this thing has RF tires and I am just trying to figure out what to do on a long trip with a blow out. I have purchased 1 each Pirelli 255/50R19 (EXACT MATCH) from TIRE RACK to the OEM that are installed on the car. Looks like it MAY fit in the extra container in the rear, at least it measures right!!! In any event, on a long trip I will carry the UNMOUNTED tire with me covered with a tire tote, just in case... from what I read on this site, being stranded out there for a day or weekend is just not acceptable to me, waiting for a tire to be shipped in from WHERE EVER. I also have a compressor , plug kit and plenty of rags.... Ill keep ya posted....

UPDATE... I got the new tire and IT DIDNT FIT, in the rear lower compartment... hmmmm So I guess I will put it an a large trash bag, then use my BMW TIRE TOTE, (I have 3 left from my 528i which I had to buy 4) and only put it in the back when I go on a cross country trip. I don't have a problem with that as I would have a bigger problem if I needed it and was stranded for a while looking for a replacement. In any case, I have it on hand!!! by the way.. TIRE RACK got it to me FAST, one day shipping UPS from Louisiana to the DFW area.

That sounds like a good idea. Not sure if you saw it on tire rack or not, but they give your the exact circumference of the tire.

hope it will fit..

Yes TireRack does post the size....The Section width is listed is 10.4" (side wall to side wall) BUT the tread width is 9.2" which is what I am measuring as the depth in the compartment. I am hoping that the side wall will at least flex enough to be able to close the cover... as for the overall diameter 29.1" that will fit, assuming no other problems....if it doesn't fit, it will ride on top of the cover!!

I carry plug kit and compressor. I don't care if the tires are run flat. If it's simple nail or screw, which most of the time that's what happens, I can fix it and be on my way.

I think compressor and plug kit is brilliant. What do you recommend?

I have this... can buy at walmart.

http://www.amazon.com/Slime-1034-A-T.../dp/B000ET525K

And I only have cheap $20 12 volt compressor because I have air tank I garage. But there are some decent one for $50-60 if it's your only one.

Yes I have this compressor .. its great as you can hook it directly to the battery and not blow an internal fuse...

The 12v units coupled with a plug kit are great. They're cheap and small to store in the vehicle. I've got one that I swap between vehicles, especially on longer trips. The one I have was $25 or so, had it for over 10 years, works well.
