I don't think the M air filters on the 50i does anything.
Granted I got them when I wanted new filters, but I don't feel anything and the M ones cost more.

Went yesterday to look for a place where I can get studs installed instead of regular bolts. The procedure is very easy, but I don't have garage and my tools are all back in NY (jackstands etc). Thought I'd go to discount tire or any other place to quickly get it done. I was wrong. I went to 6 different places and no one was able to do it
5 out of 6 shops had no idea what they are I had to explain to them, then they scratched their heads, went consulting techs, and then told me they never done it and don't have enough expertise 1 shop knew what was needed and denied - they were afraid that studs will break The irony is that studs are a lot stronger than regular bolts, 150 000 lbs tensile strength if I'm not mistaken, Certified by ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 9001 by TÜV, they have 10.9 grade hardness - they are used in racing/motorsports Moral of story: if you want something done, do it yourself Last edited by DuSh; 01-25-2018 at 10:10 PM.. |

It's all about liability/risk. If they don't sell/install the conversion kit as normal course of business, they aren't going to touch you with a ten foot pole. How are they to tell if you bought the $19.99 eBay special vs the $200 (or whatever a good set costs) set that's been truly ISO/TUV certified?
You think they want to be on your local station's Eye Witness News if your wheel falls off on the freeway? So yes, in the modding world, much has to be done yourself. Spacers and overly stretched/stanced wheels/tires are other examples. Normal tire shops won't touch them.

So decided to man up #realmanhavebrembo #gobremboorgohome #fuckit
sold my left kidney and bought a used set of E70 X5M front calipers for $800. They are exactly same as MPBK calipers for F15, manufactured by Brembo, except painted black (F15 got blue color). Paint is damaged, has discoloration, so I'll be doing some TLC and repainting calipers before installation. Will need some decal - otherwise it will look kinda empty/blank What decal would you rather put: Brembo or ///M? I'm planning to match them with 395mm F85 rotors ($340 each new) - direct plug-n-play bolt on fit (first pic shows setup I'm after, except I am not feeling blue color and ///M decal combination in this case) Last edited by DuSh; 02-02-2018 at 08:07 PM.. |

I don't have much photos left, but found couple. So I understand it's a bit confusing - basically my setup right now is: 1. Front: oem E70 X5M calipers with oem F85 drilled rotors (everything is bolt on). 2. Rears: I left stock 50i calipers, but changed rotor to a drilled one (the one I posted picture of on this thread on the first page) 3. I painted all 4 calipers red using VHT caliper paint. |

Oh mice man. Only thing I don't like about the F85 calipers is the lack of pad options. Way more options for the E70. I'm trying to stay far away from oem pads with all the squealing issues they have.
