Floor Liners vs Floor Mats
Anyone have one or both or at least seen them in person. Which is preferred, the floor mats or the floor liners?
Liners https://getbmwparts.com/partlocator/...catalogid=4462 Mats https://getbmwparts.com/partlocator/...catalogid=4462 Same question for the cargo liner vs mat...which is preferred? TIA! Last edited by Ljn21; 02-02-2018 at 08:13 AM.. |

the mats fit better and look a little nicer...the liners are good if you have snow
for the cargo area I prefer the one that matches the mats because it is nicer and heavier...I currently have the cargo liner and it doesn't stay flat, it keeps curling up towards the back(tailgate) which I have had in for 4 months and tried to leave a stroller on top of the area to help keep it down but it still curls up during the summer im going to try to set in the sun to see if it helps |

This maybe easier to understand:
Mat ~ carpet Liner ~ rubber mat

For my X6 I did buy a set of Weather Techs, I hope they fit better than mine did. Especially around the throttle, terrible fit, did not fit close to the center console. In my opinion, very over rated. Would never buy them again. I bought the liners, they do the job, easy to clean.
I haven't posted them yet but my Weather Techs are for sale, cheap. KP |

We prefer the OEM all weather mats. We've tried liners a couple of times (lived in rainy Oregon for most of our lives, now Texas for 10 years, 5 kids) but didn't like them. The looks leave something to be desired (in our opinion) and the feel is not the same. We've had OEM liners, Husky Liners, and our last set were Weather Techs.
I like Weather Tech as a USA company with made in USA products, with USA materials and USA machinery. That's pretty awesome if you're into patriotic purchasing. If we lived somewhere dirty & wet, I'd go liners in the winter, mats in the other months. We never run carpet mats in any of our vehicles.

I got a free set of liner from the dealer when I got my vehicle in Oct last year. Normally they give out the rubber mat for free but I requested for the liner instead. I like how the liner cover the whole floor on the 2nd row

the liners are rebranded weathertech the mat is a bmw floor mat in rubber. i did all-weather mat in the front for winter with an all-weather liner for the rear since it covers the center portion of the rear footwell in addition to the left and right passenger area. the remaining months are the original carpet mats.

Yes, there are rubber matts (OEM) and I like them. They came with our CPO and having lived with them for about a year now I'm very pleased vs. carpet matts. I have black matts with the tan interior, offers a nice contrast.
