We've sat in both comfort and regular seats. I found both to be comfortable. Just so happens that the color combo we wanted in stock at dealer had comfort seats, so we have them.
No issue with regular seats with loaners. |

Wait a second.....you have vented seats? Well, then I'm afraid we'll put your membership on hold for comfort (Multi-Contour) seat club. Basically MC seats are best. MC>Sport seats (M Sport?)>Base but then ventilated option comes and complicates things. Ventilated seats have less padding (obviously due to space required for air to pass and other stuff) and may be a bit less comfy for some (depends on individual i guess).
So probably ultimate lineup looks like this: MC>MC+vent>Sport seats>Base. With exception that Sport seats are even less comfortable for some than Base seats - due to Sport seats having hardest bottom from them all (hence bum bum cheeks getting sore after couple hours of drive) and too high bolsters - all just my opinion. So final revision from yours truly looks like this: MC>MC+vent>Base>Sport My condolences Sport seat owners |

I must be in the minority, but I’ve got the comfort seats, and am struggling to find the best position to get comfortable. About 2 hours is my maximum, but I do have ongoing back/ nerve/ sciatic issues, so am probably not the best to give advice. If anyone has some tips on how to set the seat up properly, I’d really appreciate it.

I have the M sport package seats w/ driver/passenger lumbar...don't have an issue with mine, but everyone is different.
I will say I prefer our X5 seats over our Escalade seats. On long trips our Escalade seats kill me...I'm constantly shifting weight and adjusting my gangster lean (throwback to any OGs out there). But for under $150K nothing beats LX570 seats.

I'll throw in my opinion as well. I have comfort ventilated seats and i am coming from a MB ML W166 which also had Multi-contour ventilated seats. The seats in the MB were indeed more comfy and (surprisingly) offered more side support than the ones in the X5. But the comfort of the seats is not a problem for me. The X5's are very comfortable as well. My problem is the seat position (just as RichM50d mentioned). In my MB, i almost immediately found my ideal position and did not have to change it for 4 years while i owned the card. Now, i've had this issue with my E70 with standard seats, but i seem to have problems finding my ideal position in BMW. It is almost as if i need 2 different settings, one for short journeys and around town and a second one for distant cruises. I do not have a back problem of any kind so that is not the issue. It might be:
a. our genetics b. our style of driving (more like sitting behind the wheel rather than driving) It seems that i am sitting way to far from my steering wheel so that i keep getting upper back (trap) pain on long journeys for constantly being under tension. But if i choose to move the seat forward, my legs do not feel comfortable anymore, to the point were they are always tensed. Can you guys share how do you reach the top of your steering wheel from your normal driving position, aka 12 o'clock? Maybe we can help each other identify the ideal driving position for this car. Overall, i am really happy with the seats and the whole interior of the car but i feel that it can be improved. |

I also have the top of the seat back curved all the way forward, since I’m a sloucher, so the max amount of my back is in contact with the seat. I really do love the multi contour seats, and I have the ventilated ones. I regularly drive 3.5 hours to Chicago and never have to adjust or shift my weight. I e also saved my profile on a thumb drive so I can transfer the seat settings back to the vehicle if ever needed. |
