New Summer Tires
Hi there,
It's time to change my summer tires. I am currently running a staggered runflat Pirelli P Zero setup 275/40R20 in the front and 315/35R20. I would be looking into the same size, but would like to know if someone has experience with other brands. I would like to have the most comfy ride possible given the 20 inch run-flat setup. Any tips would be appreciated. P.S. If you feel like there is an old thread that contains the needed info, please share the link! |

All season are generally smoother riding and longer lasting but your handling may suffer.

On my 2015 Msport with 20" wheels I received the DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX GT DSST RFT from the factory and I am extremely pleased with the grip, ride, and tread wear on these. My last set I got about 24K miles off of them and I could honestly go another 2 or 3 K miles safely... I like these so much that I purchased another set recently.

I'll add another vote for the DWS06 for comfort. The ride is far smoother than on the Pzeros that came on the car.

The reality is there are only six options for 20” run flats with one being a winter/snow tire.

Thanks all for the input. At the moment, I am looking at Michelin LATITUDE SPORT3 GRNX 106Y XL ZP. Seems to have the best rating for wet conditions and also for noise (70dB).
Anyone tried these? |

Mine also came with Dunlop’s. While they are noisy they ride and handle well.
With 16,000 miles the dealer shows tread depth in the green at 5mm or greater on all four. I will switch to Michelin non Rfs when needed. I carry a tire repair kit and a flat kit with pump and goo. |

I had these on my ML, also run-flat but R19". They are ok but far from comfortable. I have the exact same setup on the X5, run-flat 19" Pirelli Scorpion and i would not say that the Bridgestones are any more comfortable. Although i am not a fan of all-season tires, if you want any improvement on comfort, you should probably look at those. They should be slightly softer because they are supposed to work well on lower temperatures.

I just ordered DWS06 for my rears. Fronts are still far too good to swap out. I'm doing something I've never done as an adult...running two different tires. Fronts will still be the stock Dunlop Sport Maxx run flats...rears will be DWS06...until the fronts wear out more.
Guessing previous owner was replacing two at a time based on the dramatic wear difference front-to-back. I don't like the appearance of the all-seasons vs. the summer tires...hoping the DWS06 looks better in person than online. Either way, I also didn't like the noise of the Dunlops, hoping for a quieter ride once they're all DWS06. Wish there were a few more options, surprised NTB didn't even carry the DWS06 in the 315 35 20. They wouldn't even order for me...called three locations. We have a corporate account with them so I gave them first shot. Then I got my dealer (also a corporate account) to order them for me. They were ordering my broken parking brake switch anyway.

I wonder if that's a bad idea running runflats just in front??
The dws06 tread design looks ok.. But the tire is less boxy than a dunlop. In other words. The dunlop has more square shoulder. They look a bit wider due to that. |

The car doesn't care if the tires are runflats or not. Now, I would never run different tires on a car at the same time, especially one built for driving enthusiasts.
