Drivers Restraint Malfunction Code 93090A help

Hi , I have a 2015 X5 35i with 75k miles.

I am getting this error code, 93090A
Airbag Fahrer 2. Stufe: Widerstand zu groB
93090A Driver's airbag, interval stage 2; resistance too high

It has no airbag recalls per the Vin.

Any mechanics that can help. I have cleared the code 2 times with bimmerlink but after a day it comes back.

Seat has not been wet, all steering wheel controls work and visor light works
(all these seem to be tied to driver restraint codes)

I assume the airbag is only under a 4yr 50k warranty correct?


The only thing I could find on the net is where a car needed a whole new airbag as below....

CUSTOMER STATES THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS APPEARING
FAULTY DRIVER'S FRONT STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG.
VERIFIED COMPLAINT, FOUND ACTIVE SRS WARNING WHEN ENTERING
WORKSHOP. PERFORM SHORT TEST AND FOUND FAULT CODE 93090A-
DRIVER'S AIRBAG, INTERVAL STAGE 2: RESISTANCE TOO HIGH.
PERFORM TEST MODULE PROVIDED. PER TEST MODULE, REMOVE DRIVER
AIRBAG. INSTALL OHM RESISTOR OF 3.1ohms IN PLACE OF AIRBAG.
TEST MODULE TESTED WIRING FROM AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT- DRIVER'S
BAG. 3.1ohms MEASURED AT HARNESS END. TEST PLAN CONCLUDED TO
REPLACE DRIVER'S STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG. 5/24-REPLACE DRIVERS
FRONT AIRBAG. PERFORM SHORT TEST, CLEAR ANY FAULTS CREATED.
VERIFIED REPAIRS COMPLETE.

I'm not sure what the SRS warranty is for BMW, haven't looked. But definitely check it out and talk to your dealer, because some OEMs do provide extended SRS coverage above and beyond the original bumper-to-bumper.

Funny, seatbelts are lifetime warranty, but SRS isn't...
