Just brought home a 2018 X5 Hybrid. Its my second BMW, the other one is a 1M.

We were on vacation recently and ended up with a Ford Fusion Hybrid as a rental. My wife has been driving a Prius for 3 years and loves it, compared to the Mercedes GL450 she had been driving previously. I inherited the GL as my daily driver for the winter, and we still use it as the car for family road trips. Its OK, but its huge and its a gas hog. I do not like the Prius at all.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the Ford Fusion was compared to our Prius. I started researching that car, and discovered the Plug-in version, and ultimately decided we still needed an AWD SUV. I had not heard of the X5 plug-in hybrid until I googled "plug in hybrid SUV" about two weeks ago, and needless to say I decided I had to have one.

My daily round trip is 22 miles, so I anticipate using very little gas on a daily basis. Where I live, electricity costs $0.072/kwh.

Enjoy the new ride! I've never driven the hybrid and probably should.
