Painting Callipers
As some of you know, my car is coming up to a year old and I am really please with the looks, performance and drive.
However there is one thing that is really bugging me which I have now decided is a must DIY job and that's the ugly grey callipers which are slowly going a dirty grey colour I've considered various options to rectify this going forward 1. M-performance replacements - cannot justify the extortionate cost for just the looks. 2. Calliper covers - not sure about these on a £80k car and worried about them affecting the brakes (overheating and wear and tear). 3. Have the existing callipers professionally painted - cost is approx. £350 however the only company I have found in the UK who can do it is 200 miles away and I have to leave my car with them for 3 days. So I am thinking of painting them myself at Easter when I replace my winter shoes with the summer shoes. How easy is this and do you think this would look ok? Thinking of doing them metallic blue (as the M-Performance) but not sure what the BMW reference colour is? Would love them in yellow or lime green however as the standard callipers are not that attractive, want a subtle colour that does not make them stand out. I think metallic blue would look good against the Carbon Black paintwork. What do you think? Cheers

Lol here we go again
But if your going to do this it’s a big job... you need to take them apart, clean them and then grind them smooth before you paint them. IMO a bad paint job is as bad a the covers...

Do it yourself. Worst case scenario, you don't like the outcome and you have to get them professionally done.

I got covers, have taken a lot of heat for them in this forum, but I prefer them to gray calipers. Obviously, BBKs are better, no question.
Would save money and do it later if you can't find a pro who has done it. Taking apart caliper is tricky. |

For stock calipers, paint them gloss black. You’ll get a bit sportier look, won’t look like you’re a poser and they’ll hide dirt relatively well. They’ll also look good cleaned up without looking like you’re trying too hard.

Mine are a bit hard to see due to the wheel design

I powdercoated mine in black. Sorry for poor quality, I had to zoom in and crop of a larger photo taken by an iPhone.
