Also, not sure if the camera itself was improved or if the new LCD screen makes the difference but you get a way wider view of the rear of the car and the image is clear and amazing even when it is dark.
The cameras themselves have definitely improved, particularly in low light. My '07 x5 camera was 99.9% useless at night. My wife's '11 X3 is much better but far from the best I've seen (Audi S5 and MB ML350 cameras were still better), serviceable at night. My '13 335 is better than the X3 and presumably the F15 is as good or better than that.

The new x5's come with a wide angle rear camera. You actually get to see a lot more in reverse. This could be why you see the big difference from past ones.

It's more than that though. The '07 I had, the camera was literally useless at night. Despite there being plenty of light from the reverse light, the camera would show almost pitch black with virtually no clarity at all.

So the newer cameras are much better at night and while I haven't driven the F15 at night yet, the new camera / screen combination definitely shows clearer during the day too and the wider angle you mentioned is awesome, especially with the huge screen.

In production!! With back-up camera but none of the other options supposedly on back-order. Mine is in production at least a week early, though estimated completion is 2 weeks away for some reason. But it is in 150 as of yesterday.

My order is stuck in the "order bank" because, even though the stealership has allocation they could configure, the ordering system keeps rejecting my request for nappa leather.

According to the CA though, that's the only reason the order would be delayed....

Or the CA doesn't have an allocation spot!

Sounds shady. It's one thing to delay production because of an option, but reject it? Doesn't sound right.

Yeah, I was with you on the sounding shady.... it's actually that they can't change an existing scheduled build to include nappa. They can change any other option, but whenever they try to change it to include the nappa leather, it gets refused.

If I wanted Dakota I could get a confirmed slot with every other option I wanted.

No big deal, at least I'll get the upgrades to Driver Assist II that are due with December builds onwards
