Interesting. I will try to get the part number for the evap that went in. You think they are just blowing smoke? I will report back once I have it longer but initially it did feel much colder and much better airflow.

Take a look at the paperwork and let me know if there are any part numbers. I've been with my service advisor for nearly 15 years, so he is pretty honest with me about everything.

I had a 2014 x5 35i, back in 2014. The AC didn't work very good. I traded it in for a 2015 35d, back in 2015, and the AC in the 2015 worked much better. It is still working great. I live near the coast in CA so it doesn't get too hot here, but I do go to Las Vegas a couple times a year and I have no complaints. I don't know if there are any difference between the two car's AC system, But I do recall noticing the 2014 had weak AC and the 2015 was much better.

I just stumbled upon this thread today, and oddly enough about 3 hours prior to, I was just as perplexed that the AC could suck this bad (also in AZ, and black on black X5 here). I was thumbing through the menu and saw the same rear ac option and unselected it... then BAM... frosty cold high powered AC thats just like my 435i. I dont ever have anyone in the back seat so I couldn't care less about the rear AC being on.

Got my windshield and sunroof tinted with ceramic tint this weekend. Hoping I don't have this problem for my X6s first summer.

Yeah, I do agree the air conditioning is the worst compare to other cars!! Don’t tell me to disable the rear climate control, Because I brought the x5 for a reason, that is to have someone sit in the back comfortably!!
I locate in Calgary Canada, which is about 86f in the summer time, but I barely can tolerate it. So I can imagine how suffering it is for someone who live in 100f+ area. Hope bmw will come up with a solution. |

I guess whoever designed AC in f15 had a 51% share in tinting company. A descent ceramic tint (not necessarily dark) is almost a "must" mod for hot climates. I'm even thinking tinting the windshield with very transparent, lightest ceramic tint (it will be barely visible - as I don't want to get tickets). It really helps in hot sunny days. Just my opinion.

Just my 2c:
Tinting did cross my mind on the windshield too, but I had strong reservations as I do think it's grounds for voiding your insurance and being sued. So I only tinted top 4 inches in the middle, higher on the sides due to curvy X5 windshield. Was also thinking of tinting front tail lights, but backed off on that front too. Tickets are only the tip of the iceberg. Once a ticket is reported, that's where your problems start. Your insurance rates could skyrocket, to the point where you could become uninsurable. The last thing you should be looking for is being sued by another party involved in an accident....could render you bankrupt. If your AC is not working, get rid of your car.... or try to fix it. Don't subject yourself to a legal death spiral. Even if your state allows tinting of your windshield, I bet you an insurance adjuster will not appreciate it. |

Yeah, that's the one I was considering.. No question, I don't see a problem. But I mainly drive on rural roadways with no lighting. Had a couple of close encounters with deer and started thinking if that 20% of light not coming through could make the difference. We don't have heat issues up here either. MI does not allow tinting of windshield and front windows below top 4 inches. My car had tint on front windows when I bought it from Texas but it does not affect my overall view of the road. Considered adding a dash cam for evidence but then costs would be close to $500, which did not seem worthy to me. |

Just my $.02 but unfortunately since you can get sued by a burglar hurting himself while breaking into your home in this country (yes it's happened)....I've chosen to live a more pleasant life than stress about what I can and can't be sued for in the very small chance I get in a type of wreck that would lead someone to look at my windshield so close to see there's something there. He'll im sure you could get sued by getting a wreck with your car lowered or heck by even increasing the HP on your car to a point that the brakes were not designed to stop or some other kind of BS ambulance chasing attorneys will come up with. I've never had a desire to tint my windshield till this car. The AC is crap especially with the rear turned on so ya I'm gonna combat it. Plus a ticket for tint does not get reported to insurance. It's a non-moving violation. Like parking tickets.

I have the same issue. My wife has a black Evoque and the cars are parked close to each other. The roof headliner on the X5 is boiling hot compared to Evoque. This means bad isolation. Also, my AC compressor died last week. It was covered by the extended warranty, but no improvement in performance. |

I disagree. Our other cars put cold air out almost immediately after starting the engine, even without moving. On my X5, the air coming from the vents will very slowly start to cool if the car isn't moving, but works fine once I get over 10 or 20 mph.

That's why there is condenser/radiator fans, AC system doesn't rely on vehicle movement for adequate heat exchange.

Yup. This July has been BRUTAL in So. California. We began the month with almost a week of 108-115F, and since then daytime highs have been 95-100+ everyday!!!
I can have my '18 G63 parked in full, blistering sun and the inside of the car can easily be 120F+...yet the headliner feels almost cool to the touch, and once the A/C starts pumping and blasting, the windshield and dashboard lose heat quickly! The F15 is a sad combo of poor and inadequate interior insulation, cheap glass, an undersized A/C system and A/C software that does not make the A/C blower start on full power while using AUTO when the interior of the car is HOT! The recharge is easy/standard, but I doubt that will serve you any good.
The quantity is marked on the interior of the hood. I Have black textile headliner. I don't have Rear Climate controls, so no options in the menu. I also have the increased towing option => I've read that this will give you a bigger radiator. |
