I hear ya,
Mind you that we could have still gotten a 2015 after all this silliness.
But for us buying a 2015 in the month of December 2015 wasn't an option!
Yes, the diesel is a great choice.

Perhaps they will push the 2016 models to 2016 .... How novel would that be !!

What do you mean? GLE Coupe is available if you can get your hands on 1. I just spoke to my Benz guy and he has one in stock and ready to sell me, actually he has 2 of them.

Nice that you are enjoying it, still debating taking delivery of my 2015 that will be here next week. I will go see it and see how I feel about it.

Those are a series of demos and initial showroom vehicles...a dealer nearby told me the same...the production will start January (at least that's what he told me)...and there are no rebates, etc. no discounts,...
I sat in one, it still has a looong way to go before getting anywhere near an X6 IMO!!! Would never buy one.

It now appears the 2016 MB GLE diesel's are being held. Cars built are not being released. MB has no new release date scheduled as of yet.

Thanks!
So it was "testing" after all...and not shortage in supply!

Glad this is all coming to an end for you guys.

Question about that post - it says the fuel economy is improved, but over what? They list 24/31mpg which is exactly what the window sticker of our '15 says.

I was looking at that too, but I think that the article is referencing the previous gen X5 diesel?

Was at the dealer today to look at a new X5. We will order a 2015 diesel. The 2016 models all now come with the black lower interior which both my wife and I think looks really cheap. Glad the diesel models haven't been updated and we can still get a non black lower interior.

What do you mean black lower interior?

The 2016 models only come with black carpet and black doors below the armrests. These used to be in beige for example with the Canberra interior. Doesn't exist anymore on 2016 models. The choices are black, black, or black.....

I think the figures are referring to F15 general (not 2016).

Well it's not quite over. I've asked our dealer about this charade and of course their first reaction is "this is US info, no input for Canada has been received"...they are supposed to get back to us...I don't want to drive out with a gas knowing the diesel will be all sorted out and settled 2 weeks later...that's my issue. I believe the 35i is also passed production.
May I suggest all folks to contact their dealerships in Canada and see what feedback they get regarding diesel. Then we will share.

I believe that's a general F15 improvement they are referring to over previous E gen.

My '15 diesel has arrived and they know I'm most likely not taking delivery of it!
Partially because I want a 16 and so I asked about it and they still don't know! They "think" it will be early 2016 production (hoping January/February).

I drove my 2015 diesel yesterday and it drives great, diesel is definitely for me and I have no interest in the 35i model. Personally, I would wait if I were you and get a 16 diesel in a few short months.

Thx.
I'm expecting to hear back from my dealer by Monday. Will share the update.

I am thoroughly confused now. My dealer in the US promised us yesterday that they can of course order a 2015 X5 Diesel now and get it delivered in ~ 4 weeks. Since I lease for the 36 months, I don't really care about the 2015 vs. 2016 issue, I just want a 2015 since my wife and I don't like the black interior on the 2016s.
But it seems that no Diesels are being built right now for the US. is the dealer bs'ing me? Or do they still build 2015s?

Not sure about the US, but here in Canada we can still order a 2015 diesel (at least last week we could, who knows if that changed this week?)

Also, can someone post any reference from BMW directly about the 2016 "black" interior that is different from 2015 because it didn't mention this in any of the order guides I saw, unless I missed it.

The following page lists it for the X6, but not for the X5.

http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/06/18/bm...e-information/

Upholstery
To improve interior quality and durability, Canberra Beige upholstery now comes with black carpeting, door panels, and other interior panels.

Also, the 2016 order guide specifies: LCFY Canberra Beige/Black Dakota Leather
In the 2015 order guide it just says Canberra Beige Dakota leather

This is the Canberra interior of a 2016 X5 35i. What I liked so much about the beige carpet was that it always looked clean. Not so the black carpet.
