Does anybody know if the install procedure for an M steering wheel is the same as for the regular one?

Should be the same - remove the airbag and add the chip inline. There may be a different procedure for removing the airbag though, I'm not sure.

Another Q before I pull the trigger. The module fakes hands on steering wheel. Can anybody confirm this doesn’t interfere with parking assistant? Parking requires hands off wheel to function.

I don’t think it’s hands off as much as, if you apply pressure or move the wheel while it’s working it stops immediately. I think you could rest your hands on the wheel while it parks without it stopping - although I haven’t tried this.
Given that cars without TJA don’t need the capacitive sensor in the wheel it would be a good bet that it doesn’t use it.

I can confirm that the TJA module does NOT affect Parking Assist functionality.

Ive installed the module and coded the VO. I did not apply or check the additional FDL codes in the cheat sheet because quidzel website doesn’t mention it. Can I assume those fdl codes get automatically set via VO anyway?

I did however increase the speed limit to max via FDL.

Either way, I’ll jump in to check everything when I have a moment. One issue tho, I find the car doesn’t keep lane well, it swerves off. I wonder if it’s related to the above or something else is going on.

I think the issue is they've designed it for basically bumper to bumper traffic at slow speeds, following a vehicle ahead of you. So, at any higher speed than that it becomes a little less accurate. Are you having issues at slow speeds?

Originally, Traffic Jam Assist was designed for 25 mph or less and you need to be following a car and have good lane markings.

Traffic jam assist is active when you see the steering wheel symbol below the distance scale for active cruise control.

Haven’t had the opportunity at slow speeds, but have engaged it between 50 and 60km and it had issues staying in lane. That is over the default 40km.

Curiously even then all conditions are met, it’s detecting the lanes as can be seen by arrows, can see the car in front, assistant steering icon is engaged. You’d think it has all the data to keep a good lock and not veer, but not the case.

All conditions are met, and traffic assistant successfully engaged. Wonder if higher speed is the factor for veering.

It has all the data but likely whatever software they wrote to keep the car in the lane is under correcting when over the default speed. Probably something to do with the percent correction allowed or something based on speed, distance and how straight the lane is.

absolutely it is and more so on curved hilly roads. also be careful if the car infront of you moves left or right, you may too. happens at exits all the time with me.

Thanks guys. So to confirm, the system is pretty much universally useless above factory limit? In this case I should probably set the value back to factory to gain reliability.

It seems like above 40 mph, TJA is much less reliable.

Just as long the driver is aware about the limitation of TJA...you can decide when to use it and when not to use it.

TJA is not autonomous driving...

I have a 2914 (built 11/26/13) with ACC stop and go, but I also have Active Steering. Can I retrofit TJA or not? Last seven of the Vin are 0C03307.

Thanks!

Hi guys
Can I have the help
I do retrofit TJA with original steering wheel but I can not start TJA and with ista I have error
“Data lane detection 1/2/3 missing, receiver ICM, transmitter camera”
I do calculate plan with ista and suggest flexray bus reinitialization, I do according ISTA but no any TJA
Any help
Somebody know VO coding in Kalfas Module what FDL changed because I suppose the camera not sent not detect lane?
Also somebody know the correct value of fdl in ICM for STA_P_factor ? For what it is

What do you mean by retrofit TJA with original steering wheel? Did you have ACC originally or were you adding both ACC+TJA? Have you replecad steering wheel with TJA one?

Did you VO code 5AR? I think it must be VO coded, and all the related modues must also be coded. It's all in the cheat sheet.

Hello
Yes I have ACC with stop&go, lane change warning 5AG, driving assistance 5AS, active protection 5AL
I do retrofit by change steering wheel with one with TJA and code VO 5AR
I do all fdl coding from cheat sheet.
But according with ista I think is something wrong with kafas or ICM same wrong coding.
After I follow calculate plan on ISTA spear kafas.
Normal lane detection is done by kafas correct? And transmitted to ICM
Any suggestions? To check or coding
Thanks in advance
