Apple car play on 2017 X5

I am in the process of purchasing a 2017 X5. It does not have the smart phone integration option. Is it possible to add Apple CarPlay as an add on?

By 'smart phone integration option' do you mean the optional Apple CarPlay option that became available on 2017+ X5's? Just trying to be clear as 'smart phone integration' was a BMW option on prior models (like my E90 M3), but not on the F15 platform, at least not by that name.

Either way, yes there are options to add Apple CarPlay after the fact - I don't know much about them as mine came with Apple CarPlay, but use the Search feature and you'll find several threads on this.
