Snap In Adapter Vs. USB

I understand that putting my iphone (5) in the snap-in adapter may improve my phone's antenna. Other than that, will I get better functionality of my phone with the snap-in adapter? If so, what are the differences if anyone would care to lay it out?

This was previously discussed. And I don't believe we've come to a definitive conclusion on this forum (F15)...at least not while I've been active on this forum.

My personal understanding is that there is no difference except the passive antenna improvement.

I have the snap-in on my F10 and using it with an Iphone 4.

Plug-in apps only work with the snap-in. In my case, the only one that doesn't work is the Itunes plug-in that gives you a Ipod type user interface .

questions:

1) Do you mean that itunes doesn't work when using the USB cable but they do work when using the Snap-in adapter?

2) when I use the USB connector to connect my phone, the "BMW apps" will NOT work?

1) you can play music from your Iphone, but with the standard BMW screens, not with the plug-in app
2)i only have the Iphone/Ipod app not working. The standard BMW apps like calendar, Wiki, facebook, twitter, etc..

I loved that feature on E71. Makes the display so much cooler with blue on each side and artwork in the middle. Plug in also improved functionality during the years with sw updates. Does not work on F15 with same adapter

My dealer told me that the adapter for docking my iphone 5s is not in stock right now. My build is supposed to be the first week in February, and maybe this is a dealer install item, so it might not need to be at my dealer until the second or third week, but seems like a strange item to be out of stock. They also do not yet have an adapter for mounting and holding an ipad Air for viewing from the back seat. Anyone else hearing anything different on these two items?

It's an anyone install item.. Literally just snaps in. Not that strange that it's out of stock, it was just recently released and people were probably lining up for them..

Anyone know if these can handle any sort of case? I have a Spigen Slim Armor S case on my 5S. Wondering if it will fit with the case on.

That's what I thought thanks. I have a 4S adapter but didn't keep a case on my 4S. The 5S just doesn't feel as solid so I have a slim case on it.

I'm having a lot of issues with my new F15 iDrive and iphone 4s ios 6.1.3 ( not sure yet but i think my wife's iphone 5 6.1.3 has the same problem) -almost to the point I can not use it in a convenient way

Issue #1 :
every time my phone connected thru usb and I un-mute bmw speakers - my iDrive start playing Itunes music from iphone, if I go inside my iphone and pause itunes, it will stop for 10 seconds and will restart again (same thing with bluetooth only connection )

#2: with Bluetooth only connection I can stream pandora but music-art/name is only displayed for 1st song played at the time of connection and then stay on it forever with multiple songs after showing art/name of #1 song played , I have to restart Pandora on iphone and this will force to changed art, but story will be the same after that( I dont have music-art transfer in my F10 but at least song-name corresponds to the iphone correctly)

... in my 2011 F10 I dont have USB and keep my bluetooth active at all times and if needed i can stream pandora, google maps (google use Bluetooth to announce directions thru BMW speakers), waze, internet music ios apps when needed on demand while keeping bmw speakers unmuted - at some moments I just want google to announce its directions and no music playing.

Just checked my daughters iphone 5 ios 7.0.4 - same issues

looks like bmw idrive 4.3 broke Apple logic

Any solutions on that ?
