Instrument cluster (6WB)

Does anyone know what the bars are between the two gauges when in Eco Mode?

I've tried searching on the owners manual for the X6 and I couldn't find anything on it.
Unfortunately, US X5's don't have the 6WB so maybe our european, Australian, or Canadian members might chime in. We do have some members here who retrofitted the 6WB.. maybe they know what it is

.

my guess is that it's an allusion to the fact that EcoPro is so efficient, when driving down
the road, it is like the BMW bobsled zooming down the run

Haha! Sounds like a good one wearenh

If I had to guess I would think it is the active cruise control meter gauging the distance from the car in front of you or measuring the efficiency of eco pro or coasting?

I don't have active cruise control but have the same bars. I think they are just static image, don't remember them changing.

I'll see in a week or 2 but I don't think the Adaptive Cruise has that many levels of adjustment, so it's probably just a graphic, indeed.

That means "Take the next exit and and go through supersonic LED tunnel"

But on a serious note, if it's not related to ACC then it must be a standard graphic 6WB display that simply changes between red and blue.

I'm not the primary driver but I'm almost certain it changes. My wife has said that she saw fewer bars the other day. I'll have her take another pic. It's not a big deal, just curious.

Does it change in length depending on how hard you push the gas pedal?

For cars without Active Cruise Control, it's just a static display.

For cars with Active Cruise Control, it is used to show the distance setting between you and the car in front of you.

It indicates your miles "saved" or added onto that tank of gas. When you first put it in Eco mode it should show +XX miles, meaning you've added that many additional miles to your tank. Those blue bars are equal to 10km or miles. So when you've managed to add let's say +20 there should be two blue bars filled in.
It has nothing to do with ACC, those appear higher on the display.

You are absolutely correct. The dealership confirmed this today as well. Here is their response...

"the bar symbolize the gained bonus fuel range in stages. The more bars that appear, the more efficient you are in using eco pro mode. It looks like you guys are pretty fuel efficient drivers".

My wife drives it in Eco Mode and getting 10.4L / 100 KM all city so far. I'm sure all this will change when I get behind the wheel and throw in MPPK.

Use the BC button to cycle through all the options, it's on your turn signal lever.

Here is the ACC image (sorry for the terrible photo quality)
This is when you first set it/turn it on, or if you change the distance setting.
