Selling my X5

Hi guys,

I have a nice build X5 from what I think, trying to trade it in but dealers are killing me of course whant to save on taxes, I checked KBB edmunds, they offer like 4k below what the lowest trade those sites quote, any thousands below market, any tips against the stealers to get a better deal

When trading in my 535i, I got similar valuations from KBB and edmunds, but no dealer offered me anything close to those numbers.
At first I thought everyone was BS'ing me but I started to search for similarly spec'd 535i's they were selling and they were asking as much as KBB suggested my car was worth. They're not going to give you X amount of money if they're trying to sell it for X amount of money.

Scenario may or may not be the same for you but take a look at what similar cars are selling for.
Also helps to know what Manheim auction cars are going for.....

Ooooo.....If you're getting the same offer from everyone, either bite the bullet and take the offer to get your tax credit, or sell it privately.

Maybe start by trading rims with someone (with cash included), that will net you a decent amount of change, as upgraded wheels are worth nothing on a trade.

BTW, what are you looking to get?

I'm trying to get 60k with dealer to save on tax and yes wheels is a good point but also a little hard, if some one local would be intrested in getting my F85 wheels 21" that would be awesome

Try the three main sites: eBay, Autotrader and Craigslist. After a week, you will get a sense for market depth and demand.

If you are in the US, try CarMax.

have a question for you guys, once I was told by my sales guy from Porsche to sell the vehicle to a BMW dealer and they can actually paid them to get tax credits..

the question, if I sell the car to Carmax or other place, can they pay an out of state dealer my positive balance for me to get a car and get tax credit?

or this can only be done when you do a local trade in
