Exhaust tip question
So, my X5 got clipped on the rear passenger corner. Not terrible damage and the other driver's insurance is taking care of everything.
Today I went to one of their "preferred" body shops because the work is all cosmetic. The exhaust tip has a slight dent and the chrome is scuffed up. The estimator said that it isn't an exhaust tip and that an entirely new muffler needs to be ordered. Is that right? $1,400 for a new muffler seems a little egregious when it is just the chrome cover that needs to be fixed. At the end of the day, I don't care too much as it is the other guy's insurance paying, but that just doesn't seem right.

It's a lease and I'm just not interested in changing the exhaust.

Yeah get the M performance exhaust and then at the end of the lease reinstall the old exhaust and sell the M performance on this forum. That is what I would do.

Technically you can order 1 chrome tailpipe tip part #: 18307633311 (Left) and 18307633312 (Right) https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/...302287154.html they are identical for 35i or 50i with trapezoid tips
but that's still $450 each and it will require a clamp, so imho since you are not paying for it - not worth it |
