ML/current GLE has a very dated interior. IMO, the X5 is much better than the current GLE. Although, the GLE has phenomenal HVAC! When the interior of the GLE is hot, and you have the system set to AUTO (like ANY modern car)...the GLE will just P U M P out strong, cold air. The F15 X5 will dribble

I am coming from a 2014 ML 350 Bluetec and i can say that my 2017 X5 2.5D has an equally good HVAC system (at least for the weather in Romania). Other than that, the interior on the X5 is much nicer and the build quality seems significantly better (only time will tell though). The 2 things my MB had that were better than the X5 was the soundproofing and seat comfort.
P.S. That is not the typical weather around here . It actually gets quite hot in summer here. |

Silly me didn't seeing it this all time - it's going to look a lot like a new X3 - same front fascia proportions and details (grill and narrow headlights), same rear trunk proportions. It's going to be same design X1 X3 X5 - and IMHO it's not as aggressive as current x5 (which is already not aggressive enough to my liking). Bottom line is its going to look a bit too civilized
Unless M-Sport package will add some really good appearance (doubtful) |

A nice preliminary photo comparison. I never really liked the look of my F15 -- too fat at the back end -- so I'm looking forward to seeing the new G05:

My lease ends in the summer of 2019. Unfortunately, I'll likely leave BMW at that time due to the crappy dealer near me. I'm going to try another dealer that isn't as convenient. Hopefully they'll convince me to stay with BMW.

That is an unfortunate reason to leave BMW. Other than sales and annual service, you should not have to interact much; it must be pretty terrible.

Besides, my wife is now willing to look at Porsches since we can walk to the dealer...lol I can't see buying one since it's just a harsh commuting environment. Maybe once we leave the area for retirement I'd consider it. Toyota is also within walking distance. Perhaps a nice highlander hybrid will make my commute w/o making me want to barf every time I drive to work.

F15 to G05 is a minor refresh similar to the original 1999/2000MY to the refresh for MY2004. MY2007 was a major redo with a minor refresh until another major redo with our F15's for MY2014. Guessing not another major redo until MY2021/2022

No. The F15 to G05 is not a minor refresh. There will be no minor refresh of the F15 at all. G05 is a completely new car.

I'll probably bounce between Audi and BMW the rest of my life as needs/offerings change. |
