M Sport or Performance steering wheel upgrade on non M

Has anyone with a non-M F15 upgraded their steering wheel?

I know the heating function won't work, but any other things to consider?

Can't believe on a $80K+ CAD$ car the wheel is smaller than almost anything on the road. Can't handle it and will bite the bullet on cost after going back and forth with my non-M3 series, which is so much bigger/better.

Fozzy whoa whoa man, wait a minute...... small steering wheel? And you are complaining? IMHO the smaller the steering wheel - the better and the thicker it is - the better. Best steering wheels are small in diameter and have thick grip.

I agree upgrade is worth it, but I don't get "small" part, do you want a BIG steering wheel like this one eh?

Fozzy Did you ever figure out if this was doable? I'm picking up a used f15 in the next few weeks, and I'm pretty desperate to move to the m-sport wheel. I mostly just want the paddle shifters though.

Did it

I actually did it six months ago. Was nervous, but worked like a charm. $750 shipping included from Latvia. Could recommend him to you if you PM me privately. He sent it to me Plug and Play! He can set it up w/whatever buttons you need.

If you manage to find parts for less than retail it's absolutely worth it. I'm trying to gather the parts right now for an M-Sport with a US airbag, Vibration motor, etc. but yes it is doable, however I'm not sure about the Paddles, if I add on the paddles to an M Sport wheel do I need to code the car? I already have Sport Auto coded but still working on getting launch control and Sport+. Having some trouble with that. Good luck OP!

Do a forum search, this has been done multiple times and documented here. Coding is required for the paddle shifters.

Kind of surprised you said the steering wheel isn't big enough. I am looking into replacing it with a smaller M performance steering wheel, and of course thicker rim.

No paddle shifters on mine...just cruise and radio controls.
Am sure though, they can put whatever you want....with US two stage airbag.

You can find some on ebay once in a while. Its hard to find a heated one with paddles and all the goodies (like ACC buttons and vibration).

I have a non-M and did not find the M one better. Just make sure you like what you spend $$ on.

Paddles need to be coded, but its not hard.

As soon as you will enable Sport+ (and launch control) you will get your tranny shifting itself to all gears or manual mode and often been stuck in one gear without you even touching a lever. The problem comes from paddles absent and in Sport+ software is by default looking for a signal from paddles and not finding it

So I'm not good at explaining lol, but what I'm trying to say is that you need paddles if you want to enable Sport+ mode and for it to work properly

Ahh, did not realize that. Looks like a steering wheel upgrade is coming for me in the near future.

So I have ACC on top of a heated non M steering wheel. What's my best option to get an M wheel replacement?

Looking for links please. Also do you guys recommend a self install?

Not sure how complex the coding is to enable Sport+ if I got the paddle shifters but I've coded my car using BimmerCode pretty significantly before.

Yes sir I did but not sure what should be included for a full set?

I was hoping to get a link to a website that has detailed information and not have to rely on just an eBay description. I've been bitten by that before.
