BMW N55 Intake Valve Carbon Cleaning?

Hello everyone

Recently I thought about Intake Valve Carbon Cleaning when I came across this DIY

I'm wondering if any of you have already done this and how often it should be done in N55 in ours x5?
What is yours experience with this? Have any of you done this before and at what mileage?

If anyone have before and after pictures of intake valves, please add them to the answer and write what is your driving style

I’ve been wondering this as well. Thanks for posting. 107k for me right now.

I know the n55 needed this every 50k or so. I’ve never heard of a good reported number for the n55…

I'm curious what others says about this.

Not the greatest pics as I didn’t want to keep the mechanic waiting but had mine done at 55k, some buildup but not nearly as bad as the N54

it looks quite good. I don't think it needed cleaning yet

Not an issue on the N55.

Better to save your pennies for when you really need it, imho.
