When searching the error the first this I found was shawnsheridan's post on how to inject CAFD_00000DED_003_013_024 into the Hu_NBT ecu. That worked and I was able to code the HU_NBT.

I was doing some more reading today and saw that in a different post shawnsheridan attached downloads to the CAFD file I was missing. Since the _025 file is newer and maybe there is something in it that my new X5 could make use of I am now trying to figure out how in inject that CAFD back into the HU_NBT ECU. I tried that same steps I used earlier but it's not working the same way. How can I use the _025 file to FDL code the NU_NBT ECU?
You don't inject it. You drag and drop to C:\Data\psdzdata\swe\cafd - it will just be placed there and ESYS will find it when you read coding data.

I tried that but when I read coding data the cafd folder under HU_NBT still shows as CAFD_00000DED_003_013_024.

This are the steps I used http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...26&postcount=2

Here, I will fix it for you. Download Teamviewer (basic install and select home/personal use - this is all free). Send me your Teamviewer ID and temporary PW. I will login to assist.

Question

First, thank you for providing all the information here on how to code the F15. I have done quite a bit and it works GREAT!

Is there a setting on the F15 that disables the dimming of the control display (Nav Screen)? Something I did disabled it. I must of done something wrong. Thanks

I forget, but simple answer is to VO Code HU_NBT so everything within the HU_NBT folder (iDrive) returns to stock, and then recode your fdl settings. That will take care of it. Only code things that are on the cheat sheet. If you mess around with things outside of it, make sure you do plenty of research and remember the name/location/default settings of the parameter you changed .

Understand, I can do that. I did do backups. Didn't think I changed anything that wasn't on the cheat sheet.
Have you done any European light flasher mods - the double flash?

I removed the flasher emergency brake coding from the cheat sheet because it doesn't play nicely on US cars.

Good move. I would think it interferes with Brake Force Display. We don't have rear fog lights, and no amber rear lights......we know all the wiring and the hardware is different for the rear lights.

Yeah, too many people were experiencing these errors due to missing components when it was activated/used. Everyone should delete their old cheat sheets and download the latest version. I'll keep adding to it as I go along, but I updated it a few days ago and it's current with everything including some of the new codes discussed.

Emergency brake coding? I was referring to double hazzard light flashing on F15. I did a search and doesn't seem like it is available anymore, like it was on older cars. It was called something like WARNING_BLINKEN on earlier cars.

Yeah, I understand the code you're looking for now. I looked for it and could not find anything remotely close to that code. All of the flash blinken coding is a bit complicated and nothing related to "one blink" to change to "two blinks." BMW loves to complicate coding .

Ahh. You are looking to do this:

I've seen the code somewhere but it may have been for e series.

better shown here

Yep, that's what he is referring to. I looked through all of BDC_Body and found nothing.

Yep, searched "warn" and "blink" and nothing like that in BDC_Body, unless they decided to be sneaky and throw it somewhere where it is not supposed to be, lol.

Opasha, I remember seeing a cheat sheet code from changing the voice from US voice to British voice. I don't see that on your cheat sheet on page 1. Is there a new cheat sheet I need to download? I'm meeting R33 this weekend and want to make sure I get that feature. maybe I saw it on another model's cheat sheet? I think I'm going bonkers!!!!

I removed it because it, being a region language changing code, caused navigation errors.

Just figured out how to keep the codes so they don't get erased. I know Shawn explained that when they update software, it reverts back settings, but it's a good way to test. I just tested and VO Coded ddavtian's HU_NBT folder after I fdl coded everything. This erased all his settings. Then, from the new CODED CAF FOLDER I backed up (the same way I backed up the original CAF folder when I read coding data of his factory CAFD files), I restored the HU_NBT coded files. Simply right click the HU_NBT folder (or any other ECU folder you need to restore), selected NEW, then the long line (must not be greyed out- if greyed out, simply READ ECU again), which gave me access to to any CAFD module location. I selected the backed up CAFD HU_NBT file and simply hit CODE FDL - voila....everything he lost returned coded without me having to individually go in and recode every single thing by editing fdl.

To be honest, that draws a lot more attention compared to single on/off hazards, it also can be used to indicate the difference between "I am just chillin' here, waiting for my wife to come out of this shoe store" vs "I need help, something is wrong".. (In this case, it can still be used in wife-in-shoe-store situation, but let's stick to actual emergencies)

Yes, that is the process to inject .ncd data into CAFD, but if ECU was updated by dealer, it will have a new CAFD version, and I would not take backed up data from old CAFD "A" and try to restore it to new CAFD "B" as the two may not align.

Yes, you're right. This I understand. Do all the files change or mainly the ones that were trimmed/updated like HU_NBT, which is not functional without adding cafd_00000ded.caf.003_013_025 into the the psdzdata\swe\cafd folder?
