Does automatic braking work in reverse?
I drove the new Audi Q7 and in reverse it beaked several times when I backed up on to a road and a car went past. Havent had that happen in the BMW. Does it work in the BMW?

Yes, mine does. Only in Park Assist mode though! If you are pushing the gas or brake pedal the system disengages. Just like the Active cruise control, assuming you want to be in control.
I live in the city, and having park assist is a bless. Couple of weeks ago I was getting the car to park itself and while in reverse, the car started beeping and stopped itself. The audio prompt said: "obstacle detected!" So I curiously turned back and saw a pedestrian jaywalking in my blind spot... Park Assist save my a**. Did you get the Driver Assistance Package? How about the Driver Assistance Plus?! You could also check this thread: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0#post18724510 |

You should always keep your eyes focused on the direction of travel and foot above the brake pedal when using park assist. There are many stories of park assist not braking in time and hitting an object or slamming into a curb. And if you hit something, you cannot blame it on BMW.
