I appreciate the retro fit as I have them too, but the M lettering on the back looks fake and rather not have it.
If you are going to do any M logos put the euro spec ones for the front fender instead of the back. Big difference between an 35I and a X5M big difference.........

Just curious as to why use 'M' logos on a non-M model? I understand the look of the parts like the mirrors (if that's your flavor)...hmmm

M-Sport is not a Real M Car by any means.
If you have an M-Sport you can certainly get away with the small euro M badge on the front fenders like the euro versions of M-Sport. Nothing wrong or to explain there.
But for each its own.

Poor chap...
Comes in here to show off the nice upgraded mirrors and gets lambasted for the ///M badge. We're now splitting hairs between kosher if on the side and blasphemy if on the back?

Apparently, the OP didn't know about the ///M badge on a non M car being frowned upon or he/she wouldn't have done it and posted it here to be ridiculed...

Lets give him/her some slack..

Well, I have an M-Sport 25d X5 with the M badges on the front wings, as fitted by BMW. Then prior to delivery, I got my dealer to fit an M-Sport badge on the rear tailgate opposite the X5 model designation.

I wear that additional M badge proudly & if that makes me a bad X5 owner in the eyes of the forum, well then tough

"up-badging" is the automotive equivalent of wearing glasses to look smarter or stuffing your underwear to increase your bulge. the people that are aware will laugh the people who don't know the difference won't be impressed anyway.

it is bad enough that bmw went hog wild with the m badge on non-m products... no need to add more. if anything i would (and have) removed as many badges as possible and do so on real m (s or rs) products as well.

^^^This.
Up-badging from the factory is rampant, e.g. ///M 235i, but people who add the badge themselves know exactly what they're doing as they went through the trouble of looking up the part number and then having it installed as straight as can be.
They will take the looks from (the small population of) enthusiasts in exchange for the better aesthetic (in their opinion). I doubt the badges will be removed based on flames on a forum.
I guess we just like to be the fashion police at the end of the day.

my opinion has always been your car, your cash, your call... however you must be open to criticism or praise if and when posting a photo of your vehicle. not everyone has the same taste and the good folks over at baskin robbins knew that years ago and that's why they made 31 flavors instead of one.

Exactly. Well said. But be prepared to put on your flame suit when you make moves like that.

i didnt mean to start this flaming... but as said above i think bmw did enough of badging themselves for non M cars.

one of my friends did the same and thought people would care, my simple explanation:

"people who know, would know that its fake and think you are a fool; and those who don't know, don't care whether its an M car or not"

I concur.

BMW is throwing the "M" badge on everything now.

When my X5M arrives next month, the beast is getting debadged. I don't need all the extra pieces of flare plastered all over to scream "M." The quad exhaust is noticeable enough.

OP is never coming back to forums

BMW should stop putting //M logo on msport packages, give it a different logo or leave it alone.

Being from Belgium myself, this unfortunately is something I see a lot there. I cringe every single time, as I know most Belgian cars have the absolutely smallest engines.

i am old enough to remember when it was just a "sport package" and noted as such with an s. BMW XXXis

mb was the first to offer an "amg appearence package" changing from sport then i believe audi followed suit with s-line changing from "ultrasport" (USP) and then bmw changed from sport to M-Sport and M-Performance.

The X5M badge is there because the original one sucks. No need to state something folks. And the mirrors? To my opinion they look a lot better than the standard ones. Not to mention that by spending money to get the carbon M Performance parts is a waste of money. The car is not going to go faster with them and certainly looks hilarious to put a front lip on a car that is almost 20cms off the ground....
But as already mentioned in this thread, all of these are of personal taste.
For those who criticized?pfff, get a life
