If you have any questions about our tune, please give us a call @ 919 501 2090. We can also unlock your DME(s) and allow for remote tuning with BootMod3 as well.
Hey Bob, are you guys able to disable the 02 sensor check so that the CEL goes away for Catless downpipe users? Interested in putting down pipes on the car but don't want to deal with the CEL.

It was 20k miles and now I have 26k miles (the odometer in the video shows in km). So it's been not many miles since flash, I just don't have time to drive often with our studyload and exams, but I do drive it very aggressively, I basically floor it almost every time there's a possibility. So I would say it held up well so far lol. I don't have any misfire errors (I'm checking it with Carly adapter OBDII) but I noticed couple of times pinging during WOT. I'm thinking it's 91 octane fuel that is sometimes causing it (flash is designed for 93 ideally). Very rarely tho and mostly after refill from one particular gas station - that's why I'm thinking it's a fuel related issue, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm not an expert in that, I used octane boosters from time to time and I had no issues with them. I need to log my runs to see how it's going, but I haven't got time to really tinker with that to be honest
I would be worried about detonation but like you said, the flash was designed for 93 since you were out East. Have you tried a splash of e85 (or e54 depending on where you get it)? My 335i loved it as most do but it was such a pain to do it ever fill up.

The fuel quality out here is probably the poorest of the poor thanks to Cali. The video run you did was nuts especially considering your manual launch. I haven't pushed mine too hard but I have 32k on the ODO. Any issues with going into the dealer? I'm not sold on the fact that you would have to ship the DMEs every single time you want to set it back to stock. That shouldn't be necessary once it has been cracked. It was so nice to just hook up MHD to the 335i and flash whatever at any time.

If you are ever heading over to central PHX, let me know. Like i said I am interesting in some of the things you are wanting to do (exhaust, spacers, intake, flash....) I had a pretty heavily modded 335i so I always have the itch to mod.

Aren't you worried that your 50i just became a lot less reliable? And that you have no claims for factory warranty?

Absolutely not worried! This is not for everyone, but for owners who know what they are doing. I did this to get more power and I’m 100% satisfied what I got. Warranty is relative, my warranty expires in 5 months and so far the only thing that required replacement via warranty is drivers carpet mat and that’s it. Carpet mat will be replaced no matter if I got flash or not
Regarding reliability, this is exactly why I went with bench flash instead of piggyback. With piggyback it tricks dme and raises boost without adjusting fuel maps (as well as bunch of other things) and that results in a engine running lean, which is not good, you get misfires and other issues. Bench flash is like a mppk that bmw flashes it’s cars and they are not worried about warranty
It’s like I often hear people ask me aren’t I worried about MPG with 50i? Answer is always no, because I consider fuel costs an inherent part of car ownership and it’s silly to expect otherwise imho
I personally bought 50i to enjoy spirited driving and using that power it provides. Have I wanted only a boring reliable transportation I would have bought 40e or even a Toyota Highlander

Wonder if there's a reliable flash tuning place in South Florida.

You can mail in your DMEs to BPC and they can flash it and mail them back to you. It's quick and simple procedure described on their page. I think a lot of people do that, since not everyone can drive to NC. It has been done so for many years
Or look for some tuners locally, but IMHO not many places in US that do a good flash for n63tu

Miami Performance Inc can unlock you for Bootmod3
You will never have to bench flash again just 1 time for unlock.
You can get Custom Tune via Bootmod3 from any Tuner in the directory, you will find BPC there as well.

Bob,

Quick question--if the X5M air filters are installed in the 50i, does that affect the tuning at all?

Thanks in advance.

No, On the inlet side of the turbo charger, as long as the inner diameter of the MAF housing is not changed, adding intakes or filters to a system will not affect the tune.

I can only imagine what upgraded bigger turbos can do, but n63tu still has stock pistons and rods (unlike s63tu), so I'm not sure how much hp they can handle before bending/blowing up

Maybe with proper backend flash it's doable, but Bob would know more about it

Would be cool to get 400hp off the crank out of my 35i. Wishful thinking.

N54 had open deck, cast pistons, and cast rods. Plenty of people pushing big power, can't see the n63 being that much different. Should be good reliably up to 600awhp.

There are several examples of n63tus hitting those numbers without upgraded turbos and then a different one hitting around 677awhp with upgrades. Everything seems to suggest it can hit those power levels no problem. Time will tell.

Yes, it is a bench flash tune, NOT a piggy back. This is real. This is happening. +127 WHP / +117 WTQ Gain over factory according to their page: https://bimmerperformancecenter.com/...tune-2013-2016

IMHO these guys are #1! They know what they are doing and they love what they do!

On my way back I was trying hard to not get speeding ticket. This thing pulls hard like a freight train. No matter from what speed - it's just scary fast. Feel bad for Mustang GT driver and Porsche Cayenne Turbo Literally almost cried after that. Cayenne Turbo was my dream car and here I am walking away from it on "Mexican" highway. You should have seen driver jumping in his seat and leaning forward to squeeze every last bit from his Turbo, but I was still passing him....... He was upset, tried twice, on the second try he jump started, but I still walked him over. Also was trying to play a little with a Vette, but abandoned the idea due to traffic
This thing is so stupid fast that it should be banned. Suspension is not even close to be able to handle this much power (but that is another story and I'm planning to do something about it)

I forgot to mention I had a good 300lbs stuff in my trunk too. Imagine a 5000lbs SAV accelerating like a bat out of cave. Torque that this twin turbo V8 generates is just way too much

Within a couple weeks I'll try to do a dyno run (need AWD dyno) and I'll post results - theoretically I'm at around 475 WHP / 514 QTQ - which is a LOT if you convert it to crank hp/tq taking into account AWD and Automatic transmission losses - it's basically X5M territory (and somehow I have a feeling inside that it CAN walk stock X5M)

Everyone at BPC was very friendly, knowledgeable and ready to answer all questions. Bob (programmer/tuner) made my experience like a F1 formula driver - he asked my preferences and explained various options I can get with tune (exhaust valves/flaps open/close, cold start cat, speed and rev limiter delete and so on). I also got Sport+ mode coded (my x5 is not M Sport and came without it) and Sport+ mode comes with launch control! and also got bunch of other stuff coded for convenience

Spent most of time in their customer lounge with Amazon movies, but of course I was so excited and impatient that I spent most of time near Bobs working area bothering him with questions. This was a spontaneous decision to take a trip, but it wasn't necessary, I could have sent DME by mail, but I wanted this fast and right now, so I called and they were able to accommodate me the very next day, overall I'm very pleased and can recommend them to anyone. BPC work with everything from E30 to F15/F16, diesel or gasoline - they do it all

Almost forgot to tell that rumors are Bob finished working on Stage 2 of the tune (that will yield even more gains and require downpipes etc)

My next goals are to do some 0-60 runs, AWD dyno and then rims/tires

Apologize for lots of text, but hopefully this will help make up mind for those on the fence
I didn't know we had some options when getting the tune (eg, exhaust). Is there a list on their website or should I just ask Bob/Randall? I purchased this yesterday, my cable arrives on Friday!!!!!
