Tell this to ignorant dealers who claim there won't be a new X5 at least until 2020, trying to sell me another one.. I am talking to you Rallye in Jericho Turnpike.

My lease ends June 2018. It looks like i’ll have to extend it a few more months till the G05 becomes available in Canada. I think it will be worth the wait.

It will be in time for me to pull ahead. Just not sold on G05 yet.

So it looks like major change will be reduced weight (rumors say up to 600lbs less than current x5) which will improve MPG and handling. The "bad" thing about it is that it will be based on CLAR architecture and thus be more expensive than current x5. I also suspect that V8 will be exclusive to X5M, but a new smaller engines will become available for regular x5 (we may even see a 4 banger lol) and of course EV range should be finally substantially improved compared to current 40e

You will see a V8 without needing equivalent F85/F86, but you will also see a 4. CLAR is not a bad thing. 600lbs reduction is not expected nor significant, yet needed, range improvement on the hybrid.

I meant in terms of increased price, otherwise I'm all in for CLAR

If you look at the new 5 Serie and the X3, i expect that the new exterior design of the x5 won’t be much different from the F15.

After having an X5 40e, I will NEVER own another 4 cylinder big car or SUV again. When the hybrid battery depleted, and with the 40e...that is like in about 10 miles or less!!! I was left scooting around town and on the freeway in a big, heavy X5 with a crappy 4 cylinder engine.
Now...the acceleration of the 4 cylinder was shockingly adequate, but OMFG...the sound!! We also got a 740e at the same time as the 40e X5...and they literally both sounded like a Corolla or entry level Camry. Never, never, never again.

If the new X5 does not offer a 6 or 8 cylinder, unless one gets the X5M...I will NEVER buy a 4 cylinder G05!

I have a 40e as well and while a 4 cylinder will never be as smooth or good sounding as a 6 or 8 cylinder, the 4 banger is like you said more than adequate. The sound is ok I wouldnt call it horrible. And even if your battery is depleted, and you gun it, you will still get assist from the electric motor. Your X5 still has over 300HP even when the battery is low. I find the performance to be very good overall.

I am hoping the next gen X5 loses some weight and they can give the max-edrive some extra HP and if they could find a way to double the range that would be sweet.

New model pipeline thread says V8 with 465HP. Will be exclusive to the M50i, though.

I hope the M50i looks a lot better than the current MSport. I know I am in the minority, but I much prefer x-line or lux-line on the F15.

I agree, that 100-150 is more realistic. I was just comparing new 7 series that has CLAR and I thought x5 can shed more weight then that, but it looks like a baby steps is more like it

Dealers will never tell you. I knew the life of the F15 was going to be cut short and was the single reason we didnt get an X5 this year (got the Q7). I will say however, the two dealer who know that I know my vehicles did not disagree with me, they just kept quiet about it.

Q7? We thought about it, but decided that we can live without minivan for now. Maybe later when we get old and couldn't climb into X5

When I got my new 2017 X5 in September, my dealer admitted openly that the all new X5 will launch in the Summer of 2018. F15 is 2014 to 2018 model years, a 5 year run. No LCI.

G05 X5 will be a 2019, available in later 2018!

Do you blame the dealers?? They are trying to make money and sell as much current model X5 as they can.
They aren't as dumb and ignorant as you think they are

If you think you cant climb into an X5, a Q7 is definitely not for you, LOL. Its noticeable higher. I'm a lifelong BMW guy, and believe me, the X5 would usually have been a no brainer for me, but I knew this change was coming (prematurely), and since I keep my vehicles a long time I wasn't going to get a last MY X5. Oh well, bad timing for me.

Objectively speaking, the X5 has the best drive of all competitors, but the Q7 is just a more modern, updated and more luxurious vehicle. The X5's interior is very dated compared to the rest of its competition, and hence the need to cut the typical 7 year lifecycle short

I have to agree with BigKutta! I really believe the X5 has the best drive...and since I have owned Mercedes GLE (ML) and GLS, Lexus suvs and spent time in several Audis (Q5 and Q7)...the X5 is the best overall ride and overall best handling and for sure braking!

But....the interior of the Audi (Q7, Q5 and maybe even Q3) makes the X5 interior feel dated, basic and almost cold. The X5 interior does most things right, but it feels, IMO, older than 2014!

Also, Audi HVAC is light years ahead of BMW..which is funny, since our last 4 Bentleys (Audi/Porsche controlled) had about as bad HVAC as the X5!!

We have a ML right now, and even the "new" GLE interior is dated with a patch work interior to keep up with technology. But the GLE current model is almost end of life, so that will change soon as well. Excited to see the new GLE and X5 soon...
